Oh, tell me about it. I was like, RD should stick to what he knows best, acting and dancing.

That was the most ridiculous comment by him. I wouldn't even call it a naive comment.

Anyways, I'm beyond disgusted with the attitude of Bollywood celebrities on the court verdict. Their logic is that dutt has suffered for 20 yrs. suffered for what? Making money by doing a ton of movies, marrying for the 3rd time and having kids. If that is suffering, we need to redefine suffering.

Bollywood is the most corrupt and self-centered bunch of people. Jaya bachchan commenting that Sanjay dutt has been suffering for the last 20 yrs is so FOOLISH, brainless, and dumb on her part. And yeah, she is a rajya Sabha MP. Jaya bachchan needs to realize that judiciary doesn't work based on histrionic skills.

When it comes to them, bollywood waste no time in coming forward and expressing their sympathies and anguish. When has the bollywood done anything for the well-being of the needy and those in distress? Of course, they are no social workers. But, being in the entertainment industry, they have a social responsibility. When it came to justice being served to some recent criminals (including Kasab etc.), the so-called bollywood fraternity wasted no time in conveying how happy they were and how the justice was served. And of course, rightly so. A criminal is a criminal.

DOUBLE STANDARDS and SELECTIVE MORALITY at ITS BEST when it comes to Bollywood.

My faith as a common man in the Indian political system is ZERO.

Yes, Mohini, it is all very exasperating, but then we have to work from within the system to change it, otherwise we will end up in the worse mess, like some of our neighbours. The main problem is that young people do not want to get into politics, and in fact many of them do not even vote! If they are so casual and non-involved, how can they then criticise the end result?

Still, things are changing, even if slowly, especially because of the Right to Information Act. And look at how much better the problem state of Bihar is now under CM Nitish Kumar, and Gujarat too is doing very well under Narendra Modi. Both are as different from each other as chalk from cheese, and yet both have beaten the anti-incumbency syndrome, and the governance in both States has invited much positive comment.

I chose to retire and live in India instead of in the US with my son or my brother, and I have never regretted it. I do not think, despite having spent 28 out of 38 years of my professional life outside India, that I would be happy anywhere else. I am also greatly encouraged by the effective activism of young professionals in the hundreds, or even thousands of NGOs that dot the landscape, using their grasp of technology to improve the quality of life at the grassroots. Be patient, and I do believe, despite generally being a cynic, that things will improve.

To revert to the main topic, I am not at all surprised by Jaya's comment. She always was stupid, and self-centred. You would have noticed that Amitabh's comment was far more circumspect. As for Rithvik, I have said all I have to say, and I do hope he gets some good advice at once, for if not, and there is a follow up interview, he will put his foot even deeper into his mouth.
