Dear Nina,

Now do you see why it is Purvi who is Archana's real heir(ess)?

Both can do NO wrong. Sulochana gives this certificate to Archana every few episodes, and Archana gives it to Purvi except on the rare occasions when she lands her some solid slaps.

This internal certification process is accepted without question by the men unfortunate enough to have got entangled with these haloed beings: Manav in the case of Archana and of course Arjun with Purvi.

The women in question are not only never blamed for the worst things they do, but the affected men go out of the way to give them a clean chit. Manav of course has far more things for which he has to write papal style indulgences, but he does it without question, the latest being for this bail fiasco.

But still, for me, the worst was when Archana not just ditched Manav when he needed her the most, in the chawl demolition case, but she accused Manav of wrongdoing, disbelieving his fervent protests. Instead, she believed the chawl residents, who then framed Manav in the case. it was no thanks to her that he was not jailed for years.

And now she coolly advises Ovi about the importance of 'trust' in a marriage! It takes one's breath away - the calm hypocrisy of it. How much trust did she have in Manav then, after having been married to him for years? If I had been him, I would have divorced her on that ground alone. I would not have waited for the Soham fiasco to happen. In that sense, Manav too is responsible for what happened to Soham.

Except that Balan gives me the creeps and he will surely get his Lalla killed one of these days, given Vishnu's rash temperament, I could wish that Vishnu stays with Varsha and carries on as before. Adjusting both to the loss of his sheet anchor, his mayee, and to the dysfunctional Deshmukhs would be too much for any sane person!

Lastly, as I have written on my own latest thread, judging from today's episode, the CVs are starting to build up Ovi , and I have a feeling that Arjun is going to settle down with her, after a fashion, for he is now going back to their shared memories. Plus he is quite obviously setting himself to making her feel at ease, by citing their friendship and their knowledge of each other from so many years spent together in their childhood and early youth.

Now this is not something that can be denied, and if the girl he worshipped cared so little for him or his love as to sell him to a willing bidder to get something she wanted for her aai, then why not? Why should Arjun languish forever in the Trishanku style limbo, wretchedly unhappy and unable to do anything about the real source of his misery? I would not mind at all if he settles down and is at least comfortable, if not happy.

But that will not happen, and I expect that Ovi will die in childbirth, and then Purvi will have her cake and eat it, with a halo fixed firmly in place for having redeemed so many souls, plus a ready made kid of Arjun's to mother by proxy. Unless of course there are TWO kids, which is too awful a prospect to contemplate. Let us see what happens.

I didn't watch Tuesday's episode but want to comment on Mondays:

I can't believe Archana is using the excuse that "Soham wanted something from me for the first time and I had to give it to him." This is almost similar to giving in to Sachin's demand of leaving Manav and then raising a hue and cry over it because she couldn't bear to be apart from her family and it was because of Sachin. I was one of those viewers who thought Archana very foolish for agreeing to Sachin's demand but I was also foolish in being swayed by Archana's character believing Sachin to be in the wrong. How my eyes have opened since then! Archana brought the divorce unto herself and now by setting Balan free (and without even consulting Manav) wouldn't that shake the foundations of their marriage yet again because she's doing almost exactly what she did 18 years ago only this time, it's the demands of her son and not her ill sister.
Allowing Varsha to care for Soham for long periods of time was both Archana and Manav's fault and if Manav sides with Archana regarding Balan's release then it's equally Manav and Archana's fault. If Archana is committing wrong by releasing a ruthless gunda, then Manav is also doing wrong by supporting her actions. These two are terrible parents who don't think coherently for their childrens' own good.

Kalapi I agree that the Arjun-Purvi story has gotten stale. Really there's nothing left to it. I liked it in the beginning but now I absolutely cannot stand Arjun-Purvi's coincidental meetings because it's getting annoying. Arjun is unhappy with this relationship, why doesn't he divorce Ovi? Purvi's silly kasam be damned. Arjun is putty in Purvi's hands. Shyamala mentioned in her most recent post that Purvi's behavior towards Arjun (forcing him to marry Ovi, telling him off for calling Soham a gunda, etc., etc.) is that way because she knows he won't retaliate against her. She gets away with a lot and Arjun doesn't have the spine to tell her off. I'm so disappointed in him. Love has made Manav and Arjun such foolish imbeciles, it would be funny if it weren't so pathetically stupid.

Shyamala, brilliant piece of writing once again!

As for Purvi's halo, I do hope someone knocks it off her precious head and brings the girl back to earth. She is no saint to be doing the things she does, taking matters that aren't hers into her own hands, and interfering in conversations that have nothing to do with her.

Sulochana always favored Archana above all her other children and that's why she's always praising her angelic devi of a daughter to the skies. Now Archana has made it clear that her true waaris is Purvi, the mini-saint. That's why she praised Purvi to the skies for her sacrifice on her wedding day without sparing a thought for the foolish boy who fell in love with her uber-mahaan daughter. All three Karanjkar women deserve each other and no one else.

@ Shyamala

I love reading all your posts - you write very well.

About Archu and Purvi - not only can they do no wrong - the men in their lives - Manav and Arjun even apologise to them for no fault of their own on top of accepting the hair brained ideas and illogical thought processes.

My dear,

Thank you so much for such a lavish compliment! Since you have stuck your neck out about liking my posts😉, do take a look at my latest Ramayana at
http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=3263561
I was off the forum for several weeks, having nothing to say that would not have upset many people even more, but finally I had to let off some steam, and now I feel better. Whether my very kind readers feel any better after reading it in an open question!😉

Alas, you are 100% right about Manav and Arjun, which is why there is no salvation for any sensible viewers of PR. God only knows where we are headed now, and maybe not even She!

Dear Archi02,

Thanks ever so much. Not that it helps either of us, for things are surely going to get even worse all round.

My dear Nina,

You spoil me, my dear, but thanks a million. It is a good thing I am old enough not to get a swollen head!😉

No, my dear Nina, no one is going in for any halo displacement, and then again, the CVs probably favour fevikwik, and nothing on earth can rip off anything stuck with it! Why only Purvi, PR is littered with do-gooding busybodies, and the more destructive they are, the brighter the halo shines.

I agree that all the Karanjkar women deserve each other, and I would only add that the men in their lives - Manav, Satish, and now Arjun - also deserve their respective fates. If you turn yourself willingly into a doormat, how then can you complain that people walk all over you? I too had noted that no one - not Sulochana, nor Archana, nor even Purvi, except for a passing 'sorry' - had even a thought to spare for poor Arjun. But what is the use of getting angry about this when Arjun himself does not seem to be blaming Purvi in the least for his present situation?

As for your uber-mahaan, I loved it. German is so evocative at times!

shyamala , brilliantly put . I agree with your full post .

That is what we were screaming for so many months ...that the court case alone was a very strong ground for Manav to leave her without the Soham fiasco .

And the leaving should have been such that Manav should have refused to give her a dime of his money as alimony or divorce settlements as she had condemned that money and called him 'ambitious' in open court [out of context entirely , she had used the court as a platform to air her own private sulky views]and if she or Sulochana had talked hypocritically of an ' aurat's haq' he should have coldly told them

'' Go and fight for it for years in the court then . As it is , u understand the language of the courts better .''

Not only this , Manav should have not allowed her to see the faces of the children for attempting to ruin him financially with the posibility of a jail sentence as the father's prosperity means a better future for the children . She was trying to destroy the children's future too for some random people who could take care of themselves for some whimsical highs .

I agree that its high time Arjun moves on and should not live indefinitely like a Trishanku . He has run after that girl enough.

Archana's lecture to Varsha on 'trust' is laughable as her entire marital life is nothing but distrust and distrust and distrust on her spouse . They can use Varsha to point that out to her .

Varsha thinking of Satish stymied me ...it meant there is a possibility of his return .

Guys discuss here only ...won't do KC till i find episode worth it . Might be some days as i am busy .

But i will comment whenever i find time

Height of today's episode : Sulochana being super confident that Manju has changed .

May i know on what basis .

Even saint Archana found it fishy .

But Sulo has gone to her old self ...trusting Manju the snake blindly and completely . She always enabled Manju's villainy .

The reason Manju became so strong is bcoz of Sulo .

And what superb confidence in her weakling son that he would stop Manju if she did anything wrong !

Its like Savita having confidence that Manav would check the uncontrollable Archana's never ending nonsense .
