No Shout Of Cut As Kai Po Che Shoots Riot Scene In Modis Hometown

Ahmedabad: Over the last decade,any film with the slightest mention of 2002 riots has not seen the light of the day in Gujarat.But,with chief minister Narendra Modi getting into Sadbhavana mode to woo Muslims,here is change in the plot.
The Modi government has rolled out the red carpet to the crew of Kai Po Che,a film based on celebrated author Chetan Bhagats novel The 3 Mistakes Of My life a story about three friends in Ahmedabad dealing with religious politics and the 2002 riots figuring prominently in it.
Whats more,Kai Po Che,which is being directed by Rock-On director Abhishek Kapoor,is being shot in Vadnagar,Modis hometown.While there is an extended 50-day schedule for the film in Ahmedabad,some sensitive scenes will be shot in Vadnagar,a smaller town where the crew may find it easy to handle both logistics and crowds.
Many people had apprehensions about the film being released in Gujarat.But the fact is we are shooting it here.We began with shooting at a temple in Vadnagar which is CMs home village, said Bhagat,who along with Kapoor and others had met Modi in January for the films shooting.
An IIM-A alumni,Bhagat says Modi extended them support and even gave some suggestions for the project.He too was excited about the movie as after Vadnagar,the film will be shot in Ahmedabad for 50 days, said Bhagat,who has often praised Modis leadership.
But,not all are ready to take Modis change of heart at face value.Its an election year.There is no other reason for the CM to go in a Sadbhavana mode.For,people like us had problems releasing films in Gujarat, said director Rahul Dholakia,whose film Parzania,though not banned,could not be released in the state due to pressure from right-wing activists.If there was a real change of heart,then I would also like to shoot and screen another film on 2002, he said.
Surprise bday bash for Abhishek Kapoor

Close friends from outside the film industry planned a surprise party for Abhishek Kapoor at a popular hangout on Sunday night.Abhishek turned a year older on August 6.
A source told Mirror,Abhishek was taken to this place,where he had no clue about people already waiting for him.He was very happy to meet his friends and people with whom he has worked professionally.
Among those present at the bash were Sohail Khan,with whom Abhishek made his directorial debut in Aryan,Arjun Rampal and Farhan Akhtar.Arjun even turned DJ,playing music for a while,according to the source.
An eyewitness at the party said,It was a very chilled out affair.Suzanne Roshan,Mehr Jessia and Preity Zinta were seen deep in conversation.Abhisheks girlfriend Pragya took care of all the guests.A two-tier cake was cut at midnight.
Also seen at the do were the cast and crew of Abhisheks next Kai Po Che,Chetan Bhagat,whose book The 3 mistakes of my life the film is based on,Ritesh Sidhwani along with his wife,Yuvraj Singh and Kalyani Chawla.The celebrations went on till the wee hours of the morning.It was one rocking party for a very lucky birthday boy.
