I haven't been watching PR religiously lately, and only catch up on WU. But whatever I make of this current track, reeks of absolute disbelief.
The show had collected steam after the leap, thanks to the new characters, and the whole Arjun-Purvi drama, Sachin-Archana face offs and Manav being an angry frustrated husband and savita being her usual insecure self. All of the characters had different shades to them and a certain depth that kept you hooked on. I loved Arjun's character of being the arrogant, angry boss from Canada, Purvi being a strong-willed, independent and educated girl, Sachin being the scoffed son, Teju being the bubbly and tom-boyish girl and Ovi being the hoity toity model.
Then they brought this whole hogwash of Arjun cheating on both the girls by not telling Ovi the truth before hand. He never told Purvi about his prior committment to Ovi either. Both the times, the girls found out about the other in public making a tamasha out of his love with Purvi and his frienship with Ovi. Butchering of his character started there itself. Now he is reduced to a yo-yo between the sisters and a love sick puppy without any self respect.
Archana, a character who started off so beautifully, is butchered to a no-turn point. No one will forget her past misdeeds of court case and soham handling despite the CV;s trying to erase public memory by blaming it all on someone else (Savi and Varsha). She has been shown incapable of handling more than one relationship at a time, be it with her maika, husband or children. I simply cannot feel her pain anymore because of my memory of how she called this upon herself. Same way, I simply cannot feel Purvi or Arjun;s pain or their happiness when they get back together on teh show, because the CV's killed the whole point long back.
They butchered the fiery but lovable Savita when she took all the nonsense that Manav meted out to her on the Maha episode. She should have shown both her son and DIL a huge life size mirror to see where THEY went wrong. But no, she took all the blame like a poor puppy and then reduced her to a whimpering at the back of the house without anyone noticing her.
Manav, what a great character they started out with. A hardworking, rooted and principled mechanic who won our hearts with his simplicity and maturity is now reduced to a mere puppet in his wife;s hands without any self-respect. All his anger, pain and frustration of 18 years and prior to that, went away in a puff when he could blame his mother after seeing his beautiful wife in the white saree painted with dove coating. It looks more like a baba and bhakt rishta than a husband-wife rishta.
Arjun's character, again one of my fav, has been butchered to a dead-end now. There is no U-turn for him anymore. From being the arrogant shrewd boss to this little yo-yo between the sisters and now a love sick puppy whimpering behind his lady love who trashed him for bigger causes is really unfathomable. I can;t take his scenes any more because it really is a pain to watch someone I loved becoming this spineless Manav 2.
Purvi has just become Archana part 2. She started off being so educated and independent, and despite her crazy rantings against the boss which were obnoxious, she was still fiery and had a spark in her character. Now, she is the crying well with a heart of gold l, except for the man that she seems to love, just like her mother. Now purvi with her bag of sanskaars and tyaag seems like someone out of an 18th century movie.
Glad Puru left the show before I started disliking Sachin;s character too. I am all up for looking at Soham being butchered next. Teju also has been simply reduced to a mute cat. All hr spunk is lost because she simply looks haggered at all the happenings around in the house.
There were so many ways to make the post-leap track a very promising one, instead the CV's seem to be on some kind of mental trip where nothing seems to make proper sense anymore. Characters are all butchered and tracks seem pointless.
It's hard to quit the forum but everyday the WU just makes me sadder that what could have been a re-surrection of a great show, has been transformed into a humbug storyline with a dead-end at every corner. I just hope we get to see the fab actors on some other show soon.
The acting by Ankita, Hiten, Ushaji, RD, Asha and even Shruti is great! This is just my POV so I request that no one take it as a personal assault on their favorite characters. I am just disillusioned that in this day and age, they are still using dead plots and butchering my fav characters to this extent and making a mockery of mother-child and husband-wife relationships to this extent.
Maybe I should blame it all on the Queen B Sulo? :P
