Think of the Mahabharata, for example. The Pandavas behave exactly like the good folks in one of our never-ending TV serials, who stomach the endless persecution, insults and deprivation inflicted on them by the bad lot till 98% of the serial is over, at which point (when the TRPs begin to droop alarmingly) they begin to stand up for themselves.
In the end, the good prevail , because the law of TRPs prescribes that good has to triumph in the (very) end. (This is of course for the soaps; in the Mahabharata, it is the moral code, the dharma, that prescribes this). The TRPs drooping would be when the great dharmayuddh at Kurukshetra begins.

I feel sorry for Sulochana. How many times does she have to hammer it into Archana's head how foolish her decisions are not only on her, but to her entire family? But it just goes in one ear and out the other, and every other day she comes crying back to her mother about the injustice she has faced because of HER OWN DECISIONS AND STUBBORNESS. She can't have both. She either tells the truth and deals with it, or keeps it to herself and DEALS WITH IT. I can't sympathize with her character anymore, since she has had so many opportunities to set things straight, yet all for the love of a son who has always refused to return her affection or think good of her due to his own warped fantasies of bridging a gap between his mother and Manav, she keeps mum and is hurting every. single. person she claims she cares for.
I just want Archana to be honest, get things straightened out, or move on. I can't feel sorry for her anymore, I just can't. I just want to head palm every time I see her just silently take the beating that comes to her. -____________-
I understand the tendency for series to show this glorified ideal bahu, but seriously, the amount of pain and suffering that the girl goes through heavily outweighs the good outcome that comes in the end. You will see her suffering with the lies about her for 18 years, plus an extra 6 months of even more harassment and all for what? Two minutes of reconcilement and the end of the show? I really hope to see Archana grow a spine in front of those who have been taking advantage of her kindness before then. Because the beating I'm seeing her take both physically and emotionally is not something we should be showcasing as stuff that should be tolerated all for the 'better good'.
