I could not agree with you more. But then, this is the standard operating procedure in all our soaps, which is why I drop out of them with dismal regularity, and in fact of our great epics as well.

Think of the Mahabharata, for example. The Pandavas behave exactly like the good folks in one of our never-ending TV serials, who stomach the endless persecution, insults and deprivation inflicted on them by the bad lot till 98% of the serial is over, at which point (when the TRPs begin to droop alarmingly) they begin to stand up for themselves.

In the end, the good prevail , because the law of TRPs prescribes that good has to triumph in the (very) end. (This is of course for the soaps; in the Mahabharata, it is the moral code, the dharma, that prescribes this). The TRPs drooping would be when the great dharmayuddh at Kurukshetra begins.

I feel sorry for Sulochana. How many times does she have to hammer it into Archana's head how foolish her decisions are not only on her, but to her entire family? But it just goes in one ear and out the other, and every other day she comes crying back to her mother about the injustice she has faced because of HER OWN DECISIONS AND STUBBORNESS. She can't have both. She either tells the truth and deals with it, or keeps it to herself and DEALS WITH IT. I can't sympathize with her character anymore, since she has had so many opportunities to set things straight, yet all for the love of a son who has always refused to return her affection or think good of her due to his own warped fantasies of bridging a gap between his mother and Manav, she keeps mum and is hurting every. single. person she claims she cares for.

I just want Archana to be honest, get things straightened out, or move on. I can't feel sorry for her anymore, I just can't. I just want to head palm every time I see her just silently take the beating that comes to her. -____________-

I understand the tendency for series to show this glorified ideal bahu, but seriously, the amount of pain and suffering that the girl goes through heavily outweighs the good outcome that comes in the end. You will see her suffering with the lies about her for 18 years, plus an extra 6 months of even more harassment and all for what? Two minutes of reconcilement and the end of the show? I really hope to see Archana grow a spine in front of those who have been taking advantage of her kindness before then. Because the beating I'm seeing her take both physically and emotionally is not something we should be showcasing as stuff that should be tolerated all for the 'better good'.

Janhvi,

I don't think it matters a jot what you or I want, for Purvi will go back to Arjun in due course and there is nothing we can do to stop it. But this does not mean that she has to cope with the Deshmukh weirdos, least of all with Savita. She will be in the very small Kirloskar family, and DK will in due course come to adore her, and it will be no bad thing after all.

I don't see Purvi teaching Savita a lesson. Apart from the restrictions imposed by Archana's sanskaars, there is still a question as to whether she will realise the significance of the divorce papers having been brought to Archana by Savita. Archana still thinks Manav sent them and not that it was Savita's initiative, and Sulochana too has told Purvi that Manav sent them. So, one cannot see how Purvi can use that to expose Savita. In any case, in the crunch situation in the end, what will you bet that it will be Archana who will be trying hardest to exculpate Savita?

As for Arjun and the private number, I would not condemn him as unreservedly as most of the forum is doing. He slipped up in not realising the significance of Punni saying that she was the only one who knew that Purvi was in Arjun's room all that night. Perhaps it was because the blow up over the 'kiss' had distracted him (he was after all the old Arjun at that time). Given this, he thinks of Punni in Purvi's absence (she has gone home early for once) because he feels that she is 'family' and can thus be trusted, He does not want to bring in anyone else from the office for obvious reasons, nor the police, as that might lead to undesirable leaks and bad publicity. It is not an unreasonable move. I am sure he would have kept a copy of the number, and in any case, as he called that mobile, it would be there in the dialled calls record on HIS mobile.

But I had not thought of the dire prospect you have visualised - that Punni will say it was Purvi's number. However, the silver lining then is that Arjun will not believe that, and will next get the police or a private detective to check it out, and Punni's skullduggery will be exposed.

As for your 'airyhead' and my 'airhead;, I seem to have missed the word while reading the post for which you have given me the link now. Mea culpa! It is curious, but we seem to be like the scientists who make the same prizewinning discovery independently, at different points of the globe and at slightly different times. (I shall carefully avoid the cliche about great minds thinking alike.) Except that this is an airy nothing, and no prizewinning discovery!

Shyamala, I was debating on whether I should watch the Archana-Savita scene but you laid to rest any lingering doubts. Dark days are indeed upon us if the eternal optimist of the forum, you, my dear friend, are now proclaiming doom.

Arjun is an idiot, I have concluded, as big as an idiot as Archana. Both need to have their heads knocked together. Slow poke is a bigger faltu than one initially gave him credit for - he calls Punni to check the number? Hope he at least kept a copy of the number somewhere, airhead would have erased it by now from her phone. Between airhead and faltu, Punni gets off scot free. I only hope she does not cook up a cock and bull story that the number is registered to Purvi.

Watched the last scene just for Purvi and was glad for once at Sulo. She told her daughter off, hope Purvi did comprehend that her mother sees her baba through rose colored spectacles that are rusty, dented, and with lenses askew.

I don't even want Purvi to go back to Arjun after today's epi which I didn't watch in its entirety, who wants to be exposed to such a rotten family - Ovi, Manav, Sachin & Savita, not to forget the biggest of faltus, Damodar? They are selfish to the core and cannot see beyond their own rotten little noses! Purvi will have to face them if she wants to have anything to do with slowpoke faltu so better she stays far away from them, teach Savita a lesson, expose Sachin, Damo & Savita to Manav and put the whole family on a plane to Canada. Good riddance to a whole lot of bad rubbish.

Ha Ha Ha .. did Janhvi give the link, Shyamala? 😆
I was thinking aloud if I should even contest here 😛

Bee, lol, let us not start digging as to who used the term first, that would be a futile exercise as we all post quite copiously😆
Shyamala, yes, great minds do think alike, matters not the distance!😉
I am so glad I stopped by one last time before I turned in for the night, I knew you would be analytical enough to calm my frazzled nerves. Yes, Mr.Watson, you deduced right, the number would have been saved on Arjun's phone and yes, Arjun for all his faults would not believe Punni if she invented a story to frame Purvi, jello brained as he is.
As for being adored by the Kirloskar family, I have no doubt about that happening once she is the bahu of the house but the hurdles she has to overcome before she gets to that point are Herculean, that is where the Deshmukhs come in. But I will not dwell on that now, I will take your reassurance and head off to bed with the high hopes that we get a glimpse of our ARVI in tomorrow's episode.

Dear bee5,

Come along and join in the 'air(y)head' stakes, and the more the merrier!

Yes she did, right above in this very thread. Which is more than I could have done except that I remembered Janhvi's delightful title, Baby Steps. In fact, with all these umpteen threads, my poor brain has begun to resemble (no, not raita or chutney, which are both too watery) scrambled eggs. 95% of the time I cannot remember where I wrote what, not that it matters.

Now,following my SOP and coming to the facts, the dates are as follows:

1) Janhvi' s airyhead Posted: 27 April 2012 at 1:49pm | IP Logged
2) Bee5's airhead: Posted: 23 May 2012 at 12:05am | IP Logged
3) Shyamala's airhead: Posted: 27 May 2012 at 11:44pm | IP Logged

So, if we are sticklers for precision, the winner is,,,Bee5! Take a bow!!

If we are prepared to accept airyhead as well, Janhvi, take a bow!

Janhvi,

I quite agree that Vinashakaale vipareetha buddhi, but don't be too sure of the grave business as far as Savita is concerned. As far as our TV soaps, and in particular the Balaji lot are concerned, the leit motif is NOT, to quote the Bible, that 'the meek shall inherit the earth', but rather that 'the wicked flourish like the green bay tree'.

And what will you bet that if Savita does land up in that grave that she has dug for Archana, Archana will not be there with a stout rope and all her energy to pull her out? After that, it will be like the snake in the Panchatantra, which was rescued from a deep well by a pious Brahmin, and promptly bit and killed him, as that was its fitrath.

Shyamala, wanted to point out what I wrote on another thread :

At least one good thing that came out of Savita is that she sent the divorce papers with the forged signature to Manav this time. If she had not gotten scared and not sent the papers, Manav would have (un) happily spent another 18 years allowing his daughers to hate the woman he supposedly loves so much and call her "oos aurat" till kingdom come.
Vinashakalam vipreetha budhi - when the end is near, you act too clever, I hope that is what is happening to Savita right now and that she has dug her own grave

Thanks, indeed, Shyamala for analyzing the airhead posts. I will gladly let Bee take the bow until I have the time to go find my other airhead not airy head references to Ms. Limpet!😃
Yes, Archana is as stupid as that brahmin in the Panchatantra story, sigh!
Hope Sulo can somehow restrain her. I am boycotting today's episode as I cannot stand to see Manav talk to Archana and her expressions listening to her saintly husband😡
I think it is a disgrace to show any woman be treated like this let alone someone as good as the leading lady. But whatever floats the CVs' boat! I am resigned and enjoyed watching Punar Vivaah! That leading lady has some guts!

Airhead convo is very funny and love that name for Ovi.
Can we come up with something for Savitha.. I just HATE her.
After watching today's episode, I read few things from Purvi & Savitha;s expression. Hope I am not over analyzing.
1. Savitha is really really rude. I do not want ARVI's matter come to her attention at all, even if they have to sacrifice their love. They both are way too gentle in that angle and wont be able to handle her words.
2. Purvi's facial expression was very disturbing when she thought about giving up her happiness for her Aai;s happiness. She has a very determined look.
We say Ovi thinks only about her, but I think it has come from Archana's gene. I have not seen old Archana, but in current PR II she thinks only about her, Manav and then her bio kids. Purvi is such an expressive girl, Is Archana not able to read her face and talk to her. She always talks about how much Ovi likes Arjun.

We have to collectively come up with a name for Savita. Lady Macbeth? even that is too nice a name, Surpanaki?
I watched the Purvi bit and Archana Purvi bit just now, could not brook watching Savita or Manav. 😡
True, I have noticed that about Archana too, she is completely pre-occupied with herself - okay for a while but now it is going on 3 months and it is time for her to come out of that cocoon of Manav, Ovi, Teju that she has built around herself. Poor Purvi. I was surprised that Archana said tu, Ovi aur Teju, my 3 daughters should be happy. After a long time, she is mentioning Purvi with the same breath as her two other daughters, it sounded a bit strange coming from her today that I had to pause and re-wind that section.
