Being fat was a disaster: Rithvik
Rithvik Mahesh Dhanjani
Rithvik Mahesh Dhanjani, who is currently seen in " Pavitra Rishta", is a fitness freak, but things were very different three-and-a-half years back, when he weighed 113 kg. The actor, who weighs 76 kg now, tells us all about this journey.

How it all started
You never ask a fat guy how it feels to be fat. It was a disaster. I was into dancing, but somehow, it never made me fit. Being fat is in my genes. My father, my sister - everyone is fat. I always had the desire to be a part of theEntertainment industry. I knew that I couldn't achieve this until I lost weight. In my third year of college, I finally decided to start taking Weight Loss seriously.

The initial struggle
I hired a personal trainer in Dubai. Initially, my workout regime would entail three days of cardio exercises and three days of muscle training. But it wasn't of much help as I didn't lose weight and only became muscular. I turned to power yoga and spinning classes. I did my spinning classes for one-and-a-half hours followed by power yoga. The effect was clearly visible as I started losing weight.

The bad-tasting diet
I was on a diet of salads and roasted chicken. I had to eat lettuce and oats without any dressing. My trainer even made me drink beetroot and carrot juice which taste really bad. Eating roasted chicken was still better.

The workout regime
I am busy shooting, so it gets difficult to train now. But, I do cross fit training four days a week. People concentrate on lifting weights but this form of training concentrates on lifting the weight of your own body.

What all he had to give up
I had to give up several things. I have a sweet tooth and love rolls. But now I wait for occasions to eat sweets. Can you believe that I haven't eaten rice in the last three-and-a-half years? I haven't had aerated drinks since the time I have started my fitness training. It is ironical that I endorse a soft drink brand.
