Dance program went superb

Such fun , dressing them up in dressing room we parents had

Boys in kurta , sash , dhotars and sash around head to enhance get up [ My idea as turbans wud fall off was the worry so I took 4 colorful duppatas just in case and the idea became a hit ...we put bobby pins to the sashes around head in case they slip althoughknots were tight } and we put light makeup on boys , explaing to them that it was for the character of village boys 😆😆 They kept saying we r not GIRLS for this make up ...so cute ...one boy had such chubby tomato red cheeks }

Girls in Nauvari ...Purple , moss green . Sunny yellow and kumkum red ...imagine how the 4 looked ...in 4 contrast colors ...I provided gajras for all ...The lady who sat to do make up had her hands full as they were all lined up ...😆 I was assistant , sitting near by and handing fatafat all that was needed ...bobbypins , safetypins , lipstick , foundation ..omg ...They put Aboli flowers an mogra gajras around their hair buns

Make up lady had brilliant idea ...the NATHS in the nose were slipping off , so she put fancy bindis on their nose ...they looked like sparkling diamonds ...SUPERB

We had quick rehearsal in dressing room before kids went on stage

Before dressing up we parents rushed with em to bathroom so nobody got 'sensations' while performing on stage 😆😆😆

Our performance was fifth one , meanwhile these naughty children harassed us by doing antics in the make up room , they were climbing on tables and jumping down and wat not , fully dressed and make up on 😆😆😆 playing CHOR POLICE wat not ...omg ...We had such a HARD time , kids r SO RESTLESS ...my daughter was swinging between two tables in Nauvari by catching the edges , I was sitting with hand on my head , PRAYING for perfomance to start before these children messed up the carefully done make ups ...boys toh dont even ASK but these girls ENJOY the rowdiness of boys a LOT 😆

Then perfomance took place , all did well , no one forgot any steps , we ran and sat in audience by leaving wing

Then in finale Marathi Abhimangeet was sung by 4 teenagers dressed traditionally and all groups who performed went up and took a bow , saluting in Marathi Style

It was SO PRETTY , we had tears in our eyes when Marathi Geet Ended ,...reminded us of our roots and the culture God gave us in this life

Kids were FAB

We parents rushed to hug them and tell them how superb they were

Then back in dressing room , removing all fancy dress and giving back things to the parents from whom we borrowed ...loads of things had been lent, exchanged while doing make up

We dressed kids in kurta churidhar , and salwar khameezes and combed hair etc and then we went for Function dinner

Kids ate at one table ...it was fun watching them eat excitedly discussing with their group ...

Dinner was Marathi cuisine...Varan Bhaat , chavlichi bhaji , fried kurdyas , bhajiiyas , poli , pumpkin bharta , pickle , chutney , ladoo and gajar halwa

Haldi kum kum of Sankrant was done ...til laddoos , tilgul ,and ladies got shopping bags as gift [ we call it vaan of Sankrant]

Children ...got story books on historical figures of India

Came home late at night

Very very nice evening . The stage was decorated with paper and cardboard kites to denote Sankrant festivity

Needless to say the Dads took pictures . Dads were peeping in the dressing room from time to time asking if make up was done as they wanted to click pictures ...they were so proud of the kids

Men ROCK . They love kids so much !

We have kite flying season here. However, it is more like a sport for us, I love to see the colourful kites flying in the sky. There is a special place, during this season, where they have a festival, , and adults and children buy food, eat and fly kites until the sun goes down.😃
