.I put methi seeds while soaking the dal and riceI put onions radishes and eggplants as they r a hit . I put sambar powder when i boil thevegetables and after they r half cooked i add the mashed dal .I simmer on low for at least 7 minutes .Sambar gets a tang then . Some put dry red chilly whole in tadka and methi seeds . I dont .I add only mustard seeds and curry leaves and hing .Bas .The simpler u make the tastier u get it .
