Manav of Pavitra Rishta made me good human being: Sushant Singh Rajput
Sushant Singh Rajput came to Mumbai with a dream to become an actor and his stars finally got in place, when Balaji considered this Delhi boy to play Marathi mulga. He is overwhelmed about the recent success that has come to him with Pavitra Rishta, and he took pleasure in talking about the experiences with the show in a candid interview.
Read on to find out how he discovered the path of success and what more is coming soon from his kitty, definitely not another serial!
Has Pavitra Rishta changed your life?
Yes, it has changed my life. I play the character for sixteen hours and remaining eight hours I am in the hangover of Manav. He is a very simple, humble and nice person so now I have started feeling that even I am a nice person. People tell me that they love the character and I get good response and all that has changed my life.
You come from Delhi and you are portraying a Maharashtrain character. So what have you learnt about the Marathi culture so far?
The character belongs to a lower middle class family, has principles and more than that he is a very good human being. I have done lot of homework on the character. What I learnt from it is the Marathi language and simple things around.
Are you planning to do any reality shows right now? How was public response to your Zara Nachke Dikha show?
No, I am not planning any reality show right now. People started calling me by my name after Zara Nachke Dikha. People know me as Manav and when I did ZND people appreciated me. I received lot of mails and messages mentioning that they were unaware about the fact that I am also a dancer. People came to know about my real life and overall it was a very good response.
After playing Manav for quite sometime now, are there any changes in Sushant which are more inclined towards Manav?
We have so much to do in our life but we just don't get time and examine our relationship, understanding towards life. Manav is mature and sacrificing and when it comes to me I am very practical. After started playing Manav I have started thinking more from emotional aspect and I have become more down to earth, good to people around me and I don't fight.
One compliment which you got and you still remember it?
Before Pavitra Rishta my teacher (theatre Guru) told me that "You are Good" and he has also groomed stars like SRK and Manoj Bajpai, so receiving a compliement from such a Guru is a big thing. It proved like a turning point in my career, I was confused at one point of time whether I should continue with engineering or pursue my passion and this compliment helped me to take a decision.
You have been staying in Mumbai for sometime now; did you face any difficulty here? How did the city treat you?
Most of the time I am working, I feel Mumbai is fine work wise and personally it's scary at times! I am a very practical person so don't feel too emotional about it. Mumbai's life is freedom oriented and we can move out on the roadside even at 2:00 am and yes we do have beaches here. People here are not bothered about others personal life and work is priority.
Since you are divorced in Pavitra Rishta, in all likeliness you are going to get married again. So how many shaadi's are you looking forward in the serial?
( He laughs) I don't know, I don't remember how many times I got married in the serial. I feel immune to it now and at times I feel whether I will get a feeling when I will get married in real life or will it be the same.
What kind of offers are you getting and you are not taking up these days?
I don't have many offers currently as I have done a reality show recently and I am busy with Pavitra Rishta. I am working on short movies; one of the scripts will also go to International film festival.
There are lot of reality shows coming up on small-screen like Kaun Banega Crorepati, Dus Ka Dum, Bigg Boss 4. Are you waiting to watch any of these?
I love Kaun Banega Crorepati so I will definitely watch it. I love Salman Khan so will also watch Dus Ka Dum as I find Salman very spontaneous and cool.
