ARTICLE: 'I want to play a Vamp' Ankita Lokhande

Archana's goodness and her patience have finally melted her stern mother-in-law. She has been the only non-revolting bahu of the television and has become a household name who we all fondly call Archu. In a candid, interview our beloved Archu aka Ankita Lokhande spoke about the Pavitra Rishta and her idea of perfect marriage and an ideal husband.

How much do you relate to Archana after having played it for years?

I would not say I have become like her but everyday I pick something from her character. It will not be possible for me to become as sacrificing as she is but I try to be like her in many ways.

What is your idea of an ideal husband?

Manav is a perfect husband for any girl. Whoever gets married to a guy like him should consider herself lucky. Men of his understanding and caring nature are very rare.

How will be your married life?

I do not dream of hi-fi family in fact would be happy to settle down with a middle-class boy.

Which was your favourite episode in Pavitra Rishta?

Marriage sequence certainly. It was such a huge event just like any other real marriage before real public and media.

And the heart-wrenching episode…

Following the marriage sequence there was Bidaai during which we all had true tears in our eyes.

What kind of roles would you like to play in future?

I want to play a Vamp. I like the way they express evil through their eyes. I think I can do it better than what I have been seen doing so far.

Which is your favourite character in the serial apart from yours?

My Sasu maa in the serial Savita Deshmukh (Usha Nadkarni). I also admire her for the kind of artiste that she is, we all young actors generally go and take rest in our rooms in-between the shots but I have observed Ushaji continues to be around on the sets until she has finished all her shots. Her energy is commendable.

Any fan experience that you can share with us?

Once we were present in one of the events and were in casuals. People recognized Manav immediately but they did not recognize me. They went on to ask Sushant Singh Rajput where is Archana?

How it felt to have not been recognized by your fans?

It was a mix feeling for me. I was tad disappointed to have not been recognized by my fans and at the same time I was also happy to realize that I look very different onscreen.

Ankita playing a vamp? That would be interesting to see. Hopefully she will get a chance to do that sometime in her career.

Ankita playing a vamp, can't see it. I am so used to seeing her as the sweet, caring Archana that its difficult to see her in any other role. That doesn't mean she can't do a good job as a vamp, I'm sure she would nail the role if given a shot.

Yes, I too will recognise her no matter what she is wearing . I am sure I will love her . Beleieve me , she is my favourite heroine these days ..including all movie and Tv shows heroines ....

Very nice interview, especially the part where she recognizes Ushaji. No matter how awful Savita can be, the actress that plays her is brilliant! If Ankita were to play a vamp, she would still be my favorite on the show. I wish I could be so lucky to meet Ankita or any of the PR crew some day! 😊
