Archana's refusal to go with Manav

I see people bashing Archu and her mom for Archu not going to Manav's home after her wedding. People saying that She doesn't deserve Manav and that she is making the biggest mistake of her life.

Now, just take a step back and envision the scene that would unfold if Archana goes to live with Manav in his home. Manav's mom.. the uncouth, ill-mannered, half-deranged woman.. would start of by haranguing Archu for Sulochana's behavior, demand to see the gold and marriage articles that she brought from her home (remember that was the biggest incentive for her to follow Manju's plan), curse and belittle her when she sees that she is not going to get richer courtesy Archana and then dump all the house-hold jobs on her all the while acting like a shrill witch to her, in front of the whole neighborhood.

Next comes Sachin, who after being embarrassed and humiliated on the wedding day by Archu's family, will likely shower some choice slang and off-color jokes on her. Now, that he is back in his home-turf, I predict he will turn more vile and obnoxious, and this time Manav's mom will actually goad him to get her revenge.

And finally, Manav's dad.. drunken drama, police arrests,.. and so on.

All this time, Manav, who used to work 16 hours a day to feed 6 mouths before his marriage, will be working over-time and no-where near Archu to save, protect and cherish her. We have already seen him defending his family in face of all the incriminating evidence and I don't believe he will have the courage to stand up to his aayi even if he knows what's going on with Archu.

So, after all this.. do we think this poorly of Archana that we would think that going with Manav is the best possible decision she can take? Doesn't she deserve better? Why are we not asking Manav to get a separate room for Archu and himself to live after marriage?

i think she, Archu, should start her studies again! & then fall in love with someone like Varsha's Boss!!! phir shuru hogi -- "Karorpati Ki Bahu" wali kahani!!! HA! HA! HA! ;))

Relda, I agree with everything you've mentioned in your post. Manav can decide about moving house depending on how they treat Archu and how she feels about living there. He can still support his family, but living away from them will reduce problems considerably.
