I loved how he was about to reply to Lala’s question about him drinking again last night with a mouth full of paste, then stopped to rinse his mouth, spit out the water, wiped his mouth and continued the conversation. I really really love these realistic touches, it feels as if I’m actually watching someone’s morning routine. I also love how they set up even the most crucial scenes as part of everyday activities, with no fanfare and melodrama, which is why they create a stronger impact.
The question she then innocently asked may have seemed simple but it was in fact loaded with a lot of speculation and curiosity about what HS was like with Imarti? Did he used to wake up late when Imarti was around?
It was not her beauty but her spirit that had conquered his heart. Physical beauty was of no import. Her body had long since turned to ashes but her soul would continue to live within him. Can I just applaud his thoughts and wisdom here? Also kudos to the dialogue writers.
It mirrored their unspoken empathy for each other just as they had both cried in the hospital, there the wall and here the curtain unable to prevent their emotions from being transmitted to each other.
Today we heard Babita speak of her heart’s desires openly, of what she desired in a companion. It was fitting to see that just as HS had fallen for his daughter’s mother, she had on some level fallen for her daughter’s father. However, she still felt insecure about her position in HS’ life.
Interestingly enough, Babita did not trust Beeji enough to talk about such a personal thing in front of her. Naeem Bi made an excuse, and it makes me think she also made an excuse to Beeji when she had asked about Imarti.
(For once, I wished they would stop showing him bathing like that. I was supposed to be feeling sorry for him, not admiring his physique and how much he had beefed up over the months.)
Mari nahin hai woh. Chhori, mari nahin hai.
Praan choot gaye uske, tan se.
Franky, I found that to be very disrespectful, both to Imarti and to HS’ love for both the women, even if she did not mean to be.
Below, I quote from the letter to Imarti that Babita had dictated on behalf of HS (episode 123).
Log kehte hain, ke tumne praan tyaag diya.
Par tumhare praan to mere saanson mein basey huey hain na?
Haan tumne apna shareer tyaag diya hai.
Par tumhaari aatma? Woh to jaise mere andar ghul si gayi ho.
Precap - HS going down the stairs to her, as if coming with his baaraat. I saw it as roles reversed. Normally it is HS looking up at Babita standing upstairs, here he is coming off his pedestal and descending to her level, becoming more accessible, if you know what I mean. After what happened between Minnie and him, I think this is is absolutely the wrong time for him to express his feelings. They all need to sort out these issues before taking the plunge, Minnie included. She has a lot to understand yet. Again, the whole “hum sab baaraati ban ke jayenge” leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It is too soon, too public.
I wish Minnie would give him some space! I don't think I'm looking forward to the upcoming episodes as I'm already squirming about how publicly everything seems to be done.
@everyday activities - agreed! It's all these little moments that makes this show truly realistic. For example, when Dadu & HS have a conversation in the haveli for the first time, HS refers to his grandfather's photo that's hanging on the wall, in the middle of the conversation. It was barely four words, but it added so much charm and warmth to the scene. Even yesterday, whilst watching the episode, I remarked to myself how the haveli isn't a foreign place. It's literally a home. It's Hanuman Uncle's, Babes' and Minnie's, but it has also become ours. (Partially due to us constantly finding hidden doors, but it's ours nonetheless. 😆)
@Minnie's innocent question - Minnie echoed a lot of questions that I have for HS as well. What was he like when Imarti was around? What was his daily routine like? What was his friendship with Lala like? What was the dynamic around the house when Imarti was alive? I love that Minnie chose this avenue to question HS. There is such a large portion of his life that she and we are unaware of. 37 years - that's nearly a life half lived. There's a treasure trove of past memories to delve into.
@Body and Soul - I'm gonna say something that may be scandalous for a lot of the members around here. I don't find Anirudh physically attractive.
When HS was first shown, I was just like okay. But as I continued to watch the show, I absolutely fell in love with Hanuman Uncle PURELY because of his soul. This character has become such that I wish was in real life, and in my life, so that I can go to him and just pour out my own worries and insecurities. The wisdom, the warmth, and love that he constantly exudes has made me truly cherish and adore him. Like he did with Imarti, I love his soul. What's remarkable to me is that, Hanuman Uncle isn't even real. He's fiction and yet he has in some way become larger than life for us. We too, have placed a lot of expectations with this character and can't bear to see him be wronged.
@Wall vs. Curtain - I like how previously there was a firm wall between them and today there was a thin bed sheet. I wouldn't be surprised if the next time Hanuman Uncle cries, it'll be right in front of Minnie.
@Babita's Desires - I don't know and it just might be me, but I felt distant from Babes today. Maybe I'm too caught up in HS' feelings for Babes that I couldn't see what she was feeling for him. Her understanding of his turmoil, and proclamation of him being a great companion came out of the blue. I'm glad that she is in tune with his feelings but after all this time of her pulling away, it just seemed off to me.
@Babita & Beeji - I wouldn't trust Beeji with my life let alone with something as sensitive as Imarti's death. 😆 You're right, Naeem Bi may have just told Beeji that to throw her off or something.
@Hanuman Uncle bathing - Hahahahaha, and here the only thing I can think of is who showers in their underwear. 🤣
@Death Terminology - This is something that really intrigued me! Hanuman Uncle was absolutely stubborn about the words Minnie used when referring to Imarti's status. "Mar" or "dead" gives the sense of an absolute finality in a dreadful manner. There is no chance of it being either re-purposed or be completely reborn. "Praan choot gaye uske, tan se" comes off as being much softer. Her spirit left the body, intimating that she's still alive and as HS goes on to further explain, she is indeed still alive and it's all because of him. She's alive because of his love for her that still continues to burn bright. She's alive when he shares his memories of her, and because she has helped to mold his identity. She truly is alive because he still continues to breathe.
@Imarti vs. Meeta - I don't think Minnie meant it like that. I think she simply equated them both as being women who are given a greater priority than Babes. Given everything they have been through, it made sense for Minnie to be so defensive for her mom.
@The letter for Imarti - This is brilliant! I hadn't realized the letter had such strong parallels to HS' words today. Makes me wonder if HS kept the letter that Babes wrote and if he did, how many times did he read it? Or did he memorize the words by heart? Either way, the parallels are astounding! Thanks for pointing this out. <3
@Precap - It echoes what you were telling me yesterday about putting Imarti on such a high pedestal that he can't see the "mere mortals". Now he's finally being grounded. I too, think that it's a really wrong time for a confession to take place. The emotional upheaval was far too much and what HS and Babes really need to do is talk to each other. Talk about Imarti, talk about each other's expectations and then decide what they want. Babes apart from having time to get over Ashok, also had a new direction in life. Her transition from a housewife to a career woman gave her mind plenty of things to look forward to. In a way, they too assisted in her moving on from Ashok. She has completely changed from the woman she once was. HS, on the other hand, he's well settled in his job. Yes, he can always aim for a promotion but I don't know what the requirements are for that nor how long it'll take. Furthermore, there aren't a lot of changes that need to take place in his life. His determination, philosophies and moral compass are resolute. He simply needs to treat the wounds he let fester for too long.
@Baraati - Again, totally not a fan of everyone knowing about Hanita. I would have much preferred if the two came to a decision amongst themselves and then disclosed it to everyone else. Cuz now I fear that if the confession doesn't happen, they'll all keep pestering them about why they're not getting together? What the problem is? Thoda sa aur emotional attayachar etc. etc. 😵
@Overall piece - All in all, well done Jean! 😃 You have a real talent when it comes to transcribing the visual image to the written word. And now that you've done an analysis on a tough episode like today's, we better not hear any more nakhre from you here on out. 😆
