A much-needed lighthearted episode after the emotional roller coaster we've been through. Another display of Aniruddh's prowess as we saw HS in different shades today: sad, happy, irritated, inebriated.
Compensation and Penance
I patted myself on the back when I watched the opening scene as HS talked about trying to compensate as penance for not being able to help his mother when he was young. This is what I had written about in depth yesterday based on what I had concluded after watching the last scene from yesterday's episode. My heart went out to him as he said out loud what he had never been able to tell his mother.
Minnie finally saw things from his point of view for the first time. She learned that material needs were not enough. I love the message that the CVs gave us - a woman can be financially independent and support herself but she may also crave emotional support from a life partner who stands by her, which in no way undermines her self-sufficiency or independence. Minnie also learned that even in terms of feelings, she could not just assume that Babita would necessarily want someone in her life for emotional support and if she did, that it would necessarily be HS. All of this would be Babita's decision, her wish. I loved how HS was not afraid to accept and express the fact that no matter how much he loved Babita, it didn't mean she would love him back one day or that she wouldn't find happiness with someone else, or that she wouldn't want to remain single.
I am also glad that he did not forgive Minnie just like that. This time there was a condition that gave her the responsibility of behaving herself. I have a feeling he might just punish her next time she lets her anger get out of control. I really hope he helps her with anger management, just like he did with a small example of counting down. It's a good lesson for youngsters. It was also wonderful to see that they had just patched up in such a simple manner. Again, love how there is beauty in simplicity in this show, without dragging something for days on end.
Finally, she hugged him and said "I love you Hanuman Uncle". I am actually feeling more confident that she will call him her dad one day.
Tujhko mirchi lagi to main kya karoon
The chili scene was fabulous! Great reference to the scene where she fake fought with him for ruining her image on FB. The same song was playing on the radio, with HS singing: tujhko mirchi lagi to main kya karoon, and Babita accusing HS ke mirchi laga di unhone.
Aniruddh is a master of all emotions, but I especially love him when he does comedy. Finally we saw HS spend some moments being hairaan-pareshaan, leading to a hilarious scene. Kudos to the CVs for those unintentionally intentional funny dialogues, perfect background music, the construction of the scene and of course Aniruddh's delivery.
Excerpts...
When Babita asked him to show her what had happened to his eyes:
Arrey dikhaon kya ... film thodi chal rahi hai, aap kaisi baat kar rahe ho? Paani le kar aao. Jaldi, yahaan pe aadmi mar gaya bhai.
She hands him a small glass of water and he goes:
Arrey iske andar kya chullu bhar doob jaaon kya mein, yeh koi Shivji ko thodi chadhana hai mere ko. Aankh jal rahi hai paani lekar aao.
When she gives him a jug with some water:
Aap ek kaam karo, desh ka saara paani aaj bacha lena aap. Saara water conservation aaj karlo. Arey paani le kar aao mar gaya main, yahan par moonh nahin khola jaa raha, kuch nahin horaha .
My favorite ones were:
When Babita doesn't bring the bucket immediately:
Re mahaaraani saara slow motion mein aaj hi kaam karlo aap, please jaldi karo.
When Babita refused to bring his clothes:
Arey re re - bhai yo kaunsi baat ho gayi? Arey bhigo ke pura rakha hi hai aapne. Bhigo ke joota aap maar do mere ko.
Qubool Hai
He said sorry, she said qubool hai (and I think on some level she was able to qubool him too). I think clearing the air with Minnie relaxed him and he knew he didn't need to keep a distance from Babita anymore just to make her leave the house. Again the patch up was simple and sweet. I loved their playful exchange - it was the first time they openly teased each other like this.
HS can be so cheeky, asking her if she blew the chili powder to take revenge, below the belt... because of the hanky, and then saying FIR karadunga. As Babita told Naeem Bi earlier, dosti ke aage aur bhi acchi dosti ho gayi aaj Hanita ki. Babita isn't ready yet but she's slowly warming up to him. There was a scene in an earlier episode when Babita was telling HS that Ashok had never given her the right of nok-jhok between a couple, the way HS had given Imarti. I think today she got a taste of that because HS gave her total reign over it.
HS in a vest, all wet - super hot! I think the CVs know what a hit this character is and won't mind using opportunities to get women drooling over him. The best part is that in line the general style of this show he can be made to look hot without the scene seeming artificial or contrived. I was wondering if Babita would check him out but I don't think she's there yet. Besides, instead of giving the heroine searing looks like other male leads do, HS was worried about getting pneumonia. đ¤Ł
It was good to see Minnie being more open-minded about giving her mother the space to feel for HS, but at the same time she didn't want to repeat previous mistakes by assuming things. She wanted to know what her mother really felt and only then would she decide how to help her in future.
Dushman ke Khayme Main
Aww! HS was so happy about resolving things with Minnie that he went out to celebrate. Today though, Lala was no longer coming home drunk with HS. He didn't want to be told off like last time, so he left HS at the door, dushman ke khayme main. HS is hilarious even when he's drunk.
There was a slight shift in dynamics here - as in the case of many married people, time spent with friends comes to a stop and then it's only family time - one has to go back home to a spouse. I felt HS was doing something like that today, going back to his family at the end of the day, with a "wife" and kid waiting for him at dinner. I just hope the Lala-HS bond never breaks. After father-daughter this is my next favorite relationship.
This time Minnie was just behaving like a typical daughter, trying to help her father cover his mistakes, but as in every family, the mother found out anyway. The way HS hid his face to say it was too late, they had been spotted by Babita!đ Great play on words and comedy scene.
I have a feeling he will keep making a series of silly mistakes that will annoy Babita and they will have a series of roothna manana, one of which will lead to the pottery scene that I no longer feel is a dream sequence. They are becoming more and more comfortable in each other's company, without needing Minnie or some practical reason as an excuse to spend time with each other.
HS said his stomach was unwell. I hope it's going to be ok. I have a feeling they will tackle his drinking habit one day. I really really hope he doesn't fall ill because of a bad liver. Frankly, I want him to stop it for health reasons, but maybe he will do it to please Babita.
I am not sure if Mickey's website will make sense. Not all gestures are the same for everyone. It seemed Minnie was confused about her mother's behavior because one gesture fit the description and the other didn't.
Pre-cap:
Sab kuch aap hi ka hi to hai (his house, his money, his body, his liver).
I am not sure if that was a slip of tongue. If it was deliberate, then I am surprised HS would say that in front of Lala. This is just the beginning and he's lightly flirting with her - I'm sure he is going to be EXTREMELY romantic and expressive later on. Babita won't know how to handle all those emotions.
