I cannot say its a norm... India lacks basic health care, so yearly check ups are not very common except in upper middle and upper class...

So say if a woman has a lump or something, she won't be screened/detected at early stages, til probably it's too late? It's really sad that there is a cure for these things, but people die due to lack of early detection

Sorry, these things come to my mind very regularly in my mind now a days. Here it's mandatory for everyone to get it done yearly.
