their kids go to public school, apparently public schools in this area are very good with scores ranging among top in nation

Have heard from friends in Bayarea that public schools are bad, therfeore most of them send their kids to private ones

it depends on the district and per capita income of the area.
this area has high percentage of Asians in community so they are very involved with school and have strong PTA. Not just Asians but even white folks in area are educated so PTA works very hard. Next district schools are not so good with huge black population. so that's how it works.

my BIL just moved into a new house which is in a good school district... he has 3 kids so obviously cannot afford private school

My sister on the other hand sends my nephew to a private school which has a 40-45K fee 😕

Guess bayarea also has a high asian population of well educated parents

well depends on what your BIl does, may be he can afford it 😆
what 40-45 K, ur sister is well off coz that's how much it costs for good college
