Today I am saying something I have restrained myself for long time.
From last 7 weeks, we are seeing drop in trps. Well there are many reasons for it. Everyone in this forum have discussed those reasons in detail and can go on talking about for ever. It was defiantly injustice to the show, viewers and actors. But that is not the worse thing.
I looked at the trp chart of this week. I usually don't care much about looking at other shows but just read their names once in a while. One may think that reason for good trp is may be quality, concept or actors of that show. Right? WRONG.
I don't watch any other show than Parichay. But i am aware of other shows. My parents enjoy watching some of the shows and I have to tolerate them. We have seen that Parichay has gone off the track and become blooperland. Agree, CVs did lost it. But compared to other shows, I still see Parichay in better condition. So many shows on top right now insult viewers on daily basis. They have cliched plots, nari-shakti, no sense of direction, either miracles or one person running the show, spinless and idiot males, no characterization and don't even talk about acting skills.
I have often asked my parents and others, why they like such shows, "I like the girl or I like the boy" Why? Only reason I heard so far is pretty-face due to abundant make-up. Really? These are educated people. It has always bothered me that so many people gain pseudo-celebrity status for no good reason. But what kills me is that truly deserving actors go unnoticed. Everyone would agree that Sameer Soni is one of the most under-rated actors. We all agree that Sameer Soni is one of the best actors in India (tv and Bollywood). We have witnessed some of the most brilliant performances by him in Parichay in so many different domain. Many actors currently would be lucky if they can even reach half the way.
The concept of the show is one of the best on television so far. The character of Kunal Chopra is the BEST we've seen in the Indian tv. Yet the CVs have to use old tricks because majority of viewers want that? really? India is suppose to be country of intellects with history of 5000 years of prosperous cultures and this is what we have on media. Media is one of the most powerful tool of persuasion. By looking at chart I see what influences people most. we have so many intelligent viewers on Parichay, that's why there is an outcry due to off track direction and insensible plots. Even actors are aware of it and not willing to take it. But we are only minority people.
I am not trying insult those who enjoy any other shows or suggest every other show is non-sense, but I am aware they are no more sensible than Parichay at the time. Right now Parichay has lost it's Parichay, but even before it wasn't on THE TOP. I can live with the fact that many undeserving concepts and people gain fame and status, that's nothing new. What kills me is why good concepts and actors have to struggle and being ignored. For quite a while I have avoided this topic, but today due to Kunal Chopra (Sameer Soni), i can't take it anymore. If anyone doesn't like what I said, right now I just don't care.

Jay, this is a kind of philosophical question and all boils down to
Life isnt always fair..
Being successful doesn't mean that you are really good and vice versa, being good doesn't mean that you are always successful.
But then again, one fine day things do change, so have to keep trying.

Agree life isn't fair. but then there is also hope. So have to keep trying. And everyone would agree that Kunal Chopra and Parichay are worth trying for.

Ya despite all craps i think parichay is still the best but the problem is viewers who startd watching parichay are with realistic minds n presence of SS and realistic theme attachd them with the show.I dnt think any of these viewers watch any of the saas bahu craps.Parichay trp's were due to them n since kunal was sidelined n one aftr anthr craps folowd many lost interest.
We should nt compare trp of parichay wi other shows. We shud cmpare early trp n present trp of parichay.
Sad 2 say but Indians (majority)enjoy saas bahu crap or watch a show due 2 a particular actor n this wil nevr change.People like us wil always b a minority.
Parichay is slowly cming in line n trp's wil slowly rise.

i completely agree with u...
but there are new concepts too like IPKKND n EHMMBH...they are really good shows with excellent performance by the actors...i am watching this show since day 1 it aired...never missed it single epi...n never got disappointed...i am proud to watch this show...if one show is a love-hate story b/w the leads...the other is abt beautiful relationship shared b/w the sisters...
n there are some shows which is a top ruler...but then it promo aired something else n what they show in the show is something else...it promised a changed...but in the end...its the same saas-bahu krap...
seriously i can't stand saas-bahu krap at all...its too painful to my eyes...
n i agree parichay came in as a change...rough phase goes through in all shows...currently its happening to parichay...i am sure the rough phase will go off soon...
n from the last few epi...i realise that slowly parichay is coming back to track...after the main leads consumation n confession...there is no story to tell as viewers are always engross how their relationship progess in their married life...so after the consumation n confession happens...the trps does slip a little bit...thats what happened to parichay too...now the focus is going back to kunal...i am sure trps will slowly steady up...
in this show...what brings the trps is court cases...now they should show SiNal working in court cases...

I agree. every show has some rough patch. Also after consummation and confession, people think what else is left, except pregnancy. But see that's my point. That truly is beginning of new chapter. As I have said before, now the couple's expectation will rise and things can get complicated in that manner. I am not saying CVs have done good job, no they haven't. I think even they don't know what to do next as the trend is to show more problems and problems due to some non-sense. On major problem that new ideas face is, once the major issue is resolved, not much to show.

I do sense that CVs are on damage control and show does seem to coming on its track. as usual, we have to wait and watch.

Very well said. I strongly and absolutely support all you have said.
This was a much required topic.
I mean, why have CVs reduced the character of Kunal Chopra to silent, dim-wit chap who only stares or remains silent. Siddhi is being made the mahan nari in typical style. Argghhh.
This is the only serial i watch for the initial storyline and of course Samir Soni (remove him and the serial has no-no-no charm).
But why why why (in ekta Kapoor style of repeating dramtic phrases 😉 )has Samir Soni been reduced to a pale shadow of what he was meant to be in a male-centric plot..
Pl give us the Kunal Chopra we were promised...or forum members let us not be selfish and let go Samir Soni so that he doesn't have to bear such daily insult to caliber.

Well said Jay , every week when I look at the TRP's I cant help wondering why those front runners get the credit ? They are not different in any way but still they manage to garner accolades!
As to Parichay's falling TRP's my take is , Parichay's viewers aren't entirely composed of the multitude that watch soaps for the good looking overly made up leads, good outfits, regular saas-bahu drama.I think Parichay attracted those people who were looking out for something different , the novelty of a male centric plot combined with Sameer Soni's inevitable charm clinched the deal for Parichay.
But the past few weeks saw the makers of Parichay renege on their initial promises, so that section of the audience who came flocking to Parichay becaused of the promised difference too reneged on the pledge to be a regular viewer.Hence the TRP's fell.Simple
We have to agree the original Parichay is not for the masses, it will not attract the people residing in villages, it will not attract the people who like melodrama, who opt to watch TV to escape from the realities of life.Parichay is meant for those sections of the societies who appreciate subtleties, who appreciate realism ,who appreciate sense, who would favour talent to looks.
That audience base is yet to build up , so hence Parichay may not garner a 4.5 TRP like the other shows, but as wisely said change is the only constant , so maybe we might soon see a shift in audience sentiments.
