Im just a bit confused guys, I have just started watching the show recently and I dont get Raghav's role within the Mehra family.

Dadi adopted him from Punjab after his mum died, he's supposed to be a distant relative right?

He clearly didnt get the same opportunities and importance as Veer. Dadi too to certain degree turns a blind eye to how the others treat him and how Balraj has him employed at a minimum wage.

Is he employed for the family's household work or office work as well? He's seen to be doing the household work plus he drives people around and he does work for the office as well...Since he's able to do all the work thats given to Veer (As seen when he made that presentation for Veer) it means he did end up getting the same education as Veer and the other Mehra kids? So if he did end up going to Uni and getting a degree why doesnt he seek proper employment in Austria? Surely he can get work in most firms?

Hiya 😳

Firstly, a warm welcome to the forum!

I have also recently started watching the serial... from the wedding episodes to be exact.

Raghav is a distant relative but a few of us think that Raghav is probably is illegitimate child or is Veer's step brother and Dadi is concealing this... it is a thought...we think he has right to the property... whether it heads this way it is yet to be seen. This is a prediction!

Raghav does do a lot of dog work and is treated like a servant and does menial jobs but then also can demonstrate other jobs that Veer is meant to do... such as office work.. so he isn't completely illiterate... his english also great... but he isn't educated.. he taught himself.. Your questions are very logical related and EK serials have no logic😆 My advice is to watch the serial with no logic.

We don't know whether in the future Raghav will move away and become a successful businessman etc to take revenge against Mehra's. To be honest we don't know what the actual concept is. Maybe Raghav knowing office work is a future track indication???? It is all confusing.

Raghav can get work elsewhere but he is too loyal as he was an orphan and dadi took him end gave him a bed so he has to show his gratitude. It is a new serial so there is still a lot of development yet to take place.

For now I think the plot will be focused on Raina relationship with misunderstandings involved... whether Raqhav will still be a 'servant' of Mehra's is yet to be seen.

I hopa all this makes sense?

First of all, welcome to the forum!!

I understand your confusion. You see, TV shows often feature hundreds of gaping holes and ambiguity in the storyline. And among all, Dadi's character is the most ambiguous, as her actions involving Raghav always seem questionable.

As you've mentioned, Raghav is a distant relative of the Mehras. Dadi is shown to be the only one who actually cares for him but at the end of the day, all her actions seem to be biased and degrading to Raghav. I clearly remember, in a particular episode before marriage, Raghav shared a little about his background with Naina (More about the ep later). After learning that Naina was a lecturer in India, he very clearly told that he had a little formal education, he couldn't even speak in English before he moved to Austria, he had to learn it to survive there. My point is, being so rich, Dadi could have easily sponsored his education, instead, she refrained from doing so and made a servant out of him. How convenient!

On the other hand, Raghav works for Mehra Industries, he was shown to face media and prepare business presentation for Veer, which contradicts his background I just mentioned. And being the current owner & Chairman of Mehra Industries, Dadi is bound to know Raghav's salary situation. Again she is silent on this.

Raghav is a nice guy, so he runs all the errands of the family. So everyone treats him like a servant. They mock him, insult him at every given opportunity and Dadi either keeps silent or just disappears in such situations. Biased again. She probably is evil and knowingly exploiting Raghav for something selfish.

Now about that episode - It was when Naina saves Veer from getting arrested for hitting pregnant Chanchal with his car. After the Policemen leave, she comes to know that Raghav was the person who provided the fund for her mother's heart treatment. She gives Raghav a treat as a thank you gesture. They go to a coffee shop & there they share some info about their background.

As far as I am aware education is free in Austria and the first 9 years are mandatory for everyone. For uni you can take out student loans which you can pay back gradually (kinda like the UK). Seeing as how Raghav moved to Austria when he was a child, (say 6 for arguments sake). I'm assuming Raghav has done some of the basic schooling in Austria, atleast until he was 18.

Though I dont understand why or how he knows English. German is the official language of Austria so its weird how everyone is so fluent and speaks in English all the time. English would be taught as a foreign language and they (the 3rd generation) would never as fluent as they are seen to be.

Im not sure whether he did end up going to Uni, on one hand it seems like he has since he can do almost all of Veer's work and he's seen to be representing the Mehra's (for the charitable trust) whilst on the other hand its strange how he's Mehra's errand boy. If he has a degree surely he could get a job and move out and still visit Dadi often or pay rent for the out house and still stay close to Dadi?

Exactly!! I dont get Dadi's character, on one hand she's seen to love Raghav and on the other hand she turns a blind eye to how he's treated. Raghav seems to have pretty much grown up on his own, he didnt really have any support from Dadi. She didnt even need to sponsor his education since education is free and yet it was mentioned he taught himself everything. 😕

Yeah... Dadi is a shady character... I think the CV's are undecided as to whether they want to make her slightly negative so they give glimpses of both nice and fishy 😛
Guys... logic does not exist with EK serials so lets not think too deep. Im glad Raghav is not illiterate.
