One of the main reasons that this show is so popular over multiple versions is the relatability. I personally know men who run away at the mention of TV serials, who sit and watch PS. Because it's not crying and saas bahu or drama all the time, you know? Because there's a business aspect to it that's actually explored, there are male characters given nearly equal screen space as female characters, a rarity in itself at times.
The connect with Raavi, I think a lot of it stems from Alice's acting. Also from the fact that, intentional or not, they made Raavi human. Relatable. Look at TRP toppers that started around the same time PS did.
1) MHRW, TRP topper for most of it's run until the end, had Pallavi and Raghav, a typical business tycoon & middle class girl story. But the emotions were relatable because both of their family issues gave connect.
2) Ghum show's FL has serious anger issues. She makes mistakes, then apologises. Connect. Even Didi of that show has more connect than Mahaan of our show has.
3) Anupama, did a huge loan kaand, nearly brought the family to bankruptcy, was called out for it, apologized, then corrected her mistake. Connect.
Also, actor's experience in life, and abilities matter. Alice has played a grey character before. Has played chote mote roles with comic value before. Has seen a lot in real life. No matter how bad a script she gets, Alice seems to think of what the real reaction to this would be. In real life. And bases her acting off of it, hence so much connect! This is why when there's bad writing, even KD sometimes falls relatively short. Because KD lives his character, he doesn't connect it to reality, he lives in an AU world once cameras are filming, and so sometimes forgets that this isn't a REAL reaction to a situation. He's an amazing actor who catches emotions very subtly and beautifully, but sometimes you lose connect because of this.
✨✨✨✨ on the other hand, debuted with Saraswatichandra as an initially small role, later given too much importance. Her very next show was as a lead. And from the way she talks in interviews anger the like, she doesn't seem to have much experience of real life either. Atleast if she put in the effort to understand the character, the emotions, asked how people would expect he character to react to situations, her acting would get better. But no, she doesn't want feedback. Instead, sher believes that we're all fans because we suffer through 15 minutes of her everyday in wait of 20 seconds of Shivi.
