I have faced something similar because of my weight- My mom used to parrot that I would never get married if I didn't lose weight- would say weird things like "We can get only such kind of guys with your weight- if you could drop 10kgs then no boy will say no to you. Now the parents itself reject you" (otherwise a decently sweet woman, well mostly. I love her anyways)

Growing up, I was always asked to be a certain way- I was not slender, I always wore glasses, my hair was not movie straight. I have been admonished for bot wearing makeup, not having proper dressing sense.

That cloying feeling of not wanting to change but being expected to change by your near and dear one, to be considered "worthy"- oh boy do I resonate with that. KD actually does a phenomenal job- he takes me back sometimes.

Long story short- Things changed when I met my husband 😆 Don't want to bore anyone with details.

Wow, today I am finding so many reasons to like my husband 🤣 Adding more brownie points to his account 🤣
