Okay Nivi, didn't forget about you or your question:
Hmm... so to be truthful, I hadn't seen the original version in the early days. Only followed the episodes after the second drunk confession. So, I won't comment on Mulla (Raavi) and how she forgives Dhara. But this is what essentially occured in the Telugu version:
Raavi, in this version, is a lot less air-headed and a lot more angry (quite honestly, now that I think about it, it's almost as if Raavi and Shiva's personalities switched in this version... Raavi was a little stronger and more short-tempered. Shiva was angry too, but he was a lot kinder and more innocent (I think to really hone down on the point that in this version, Shiva didn't go to school at all (I think he discontinued at UKG/1st grade because he doesn't even know how to read/write, Raavi teaches him all of this later)).
To put it shortly, Raavi was absolutely pissed at the way everything worked out. So much so, that when Dev came to her to say, "I'm sorry things happened this way, I hope you don't have any more feelings for me." When she hears this, her emotions flow overboard. She tells Dev she essentially thought of him to be "dead" at the mandap. Even if he wanted to marry her, she wouldn't marry a two-timing cheater such as himself. Let's say Dev never doubt her after this...
That's not to say she wanted to marry Shiva either. Raavi in this version was a little like Rishita in the way that she was a pampered only child. She had dreams of marrying an educated man (Dev), which she did not get. As such, she and Shiva had many disputes and fights. She never failed to remind him that he "ruined" her life by marrying her. She even kept referring to her mangalsutra as a noose that Shiva tied around her neck (this version definitely took a lot more of a serious turn, whereas Pandya Store is a bit more comedic and relaxed).
As for Dhara, she was angry at Dhara, but as the days passed, she couldn't help but allow her walls to crumble. In this version, Raavi came to the conclusion that Dhara was not truly bad by herself. She saw how Dhara cared for the family, and that melted her (just like our Raavi saw Dhara caring for Rishita). In fact, she mentioned, I think on Day 2-3 of her marriage, that she did not blame Dhara or Gaumbi, and instead, it was her fate/rushed decisions which caused her to be this way. Dhara obviously feels sad she feels this way, but Raavi's biggest struggle was accepting Shiva (someone who did not represent in any way/shape/form of her "ideal" husband). In fact, they recently brought this topic up again. Raavi and her Mausa-Pa (father in this version) were talking about her relationship once she gave birth to her daughter. Raavi mentioned how she didn't like Shiva at first, yes, but she transformed him into her ideal type and he transformed her into his ideal type. They learned to respect and love each other, and she wouldn't have it any other way.
My thoughts on the changes between these two versions:
So, I'm going to refer to the Telugu version of Raavi and Shiva by their actual names just to reduce the confusion. Raavi --> Siri and Shiva --> Bharat
--Despite not typically liking hot-headed female characters (I prefer airheads over characters with reason as I watch ITV to add some humor into my otherwise bleak life), I LOVED how Siri dealt with the Dev character post-wedding. She went through an awful situation, and she stood out strong. She proved to the female audience that girls don't need a dude in their life to be happy. And she also proved that girls could stand up to men. Now, we didn't get such a scene in this version, and based on the personalities/humor angle added into the show, I don't think we will ever get to see such a scene. (Myabe we might, but I think the conversation will be a lot more sympathetic/filled with hurt (especially since we saw more of the childhood love she had for Dev) than the GO SIRI!! YOU WWE FIGHTER! I had while watching it in Telugu).
--I didn't particularly enjoy Bharat's character in the Telugu version. He seemed a lot more innocent than to my liking, and at times, I didn't understand his obedience to Dhara. Shiva's almost blind obedience to his family makes perfect sense here. He grew up feeling angry with everything that happened (the Telugu version also included kids for 1-2 episodes), and to him, his family will be the only ones to never betray/hurt him. He prefers to be insulated in his own personal bubble. Kanwar, I also believe, does a much better job at portraying the layers of Shiva whereas Bharat seemed to be a much more superficial character
Now, the tone of the show is something that I am still getting used to. At times, I like the light/funny tone. I appreciate the humor, the banter, and the Tom and Jerry relationship these two have with each other. But, because I watched the Telugu which took a little more of a serious spin, I wish Pandya Store to be more serious in certain areas: mainly, Raavi's emotions about Dev. We all joke that Raavi only thinks about Shiva, but I'm very curious to think about why. This girl nearly killed herself twice for Dev, yet chants the name of his brother at any given point. Even after the marriage, instead of thinking about Dev, it has been, "Shiva this." "Shiva that." "What can I do to get on Shiva's nerves."
In some ways, this is funny. But, after meeting survivors who attempted to kill themselves, Raavi's recovery seems somewhat of a joke to me. I wish she and Dev had a conversation. I wish someone tells Rishita (be it Dev, Shiva, or someone else) that she should tone down on showing off her romance, especially showing it to someone who went through so much trauma. I know Raavi said she doesn't think about Dev in that manner anymore, but Dev and Raavi never had a proper conversation about the said matter. In fact, Dev and this marriage has not been properly addressed at all. We see the brothers hating, but pretending/joking to be okay. We see Raavi and Dev with no scenes alone to discuss this. Rishita, before this episode, only served to rub her marriage into Raavi's face at all given times.
Perhaps the solutions to all these will come in the future. They seem to be hinting it at least with Raavi's singing and Shiva's anger. Rishita and Raavi are building a friendship, so maybe they will talk it out and address these issues. Plus, the spat between Dev and Shiva have not been entirely addressed. So, I do think it will be in a future track, and I would be curious to see how they would go about it. Not just for Raavi, but also for Shiva as he was equally affected in this marriage.
As for the potential breakdown... only time will be able to tell. I feel like PS has been fluctuating recently with semi-serious/semi-comedic episodes of late. Don't know if it's because of the shift to Rajasthan and they wanted happier moments between all the couples, or if it's because they intend to keep this show a lot more light compared to it's original counterpart.
Either way, as much as I don't want to see a breakdown scene, I can say for one, the breakdown scene makes ShiVi ultimately stronger as he tells her things he never would've told her otherwise. And considering how airheaded Raavi is, she probably needs to hear the truth in this way to truly understand Shiva.
