Unpopular opinion maybe but I am LOVING the use of flashbacks this week. Because theyâre not there for the sake of it but actually made me so emotional. It was a turning point for Nashwa and the scene of her remembering Burhan and him vice versa really pull at your heart strings. Sheâs IN Ammarâs room, feeling grossed out by everything there, scrunching her nose and trying to accept this reality but her mind keeps shifting back to Burhan. The respect he has for her, the quiet affection. It was so beautifully done and I loved how it went parallel with Burhan remembering her too. It was a nice wrap up - even if temporary - for that relationship.
It was also more heart wrenching because - as much as Nameer and Yumna looked amazing and had crackling chemistry - Ammar was downright cruel to Nashwa. The taunts about Burhan - you could see his sinister pleasure that he was driving from it. The way he throws his boots on the floor, the next day when he abandons her by the side of the road⌠all of him is such a striking contrast to Burhan, who incidentally came to save Nashwa from the road. Iâve heard a lot of talk about Ammar being whitewashed but idk for me it comes across as his family members brushing a lot of his kartoot under the rug and their wilful denial of what he does, rather than whitewashing. But looking at his scenes, this isnât someone who is going to get soft or change. Itâs clear in his treatment of Nashwa alone.
Now coming to the other flashback. So nicely done! You go through Ammarâs whole journey starting from his abuse by his father, the power dynamic there, then Maheenâs rape and murder. The time she comes to his house to erase the videos. All of this going side by side with Nashwa bringing up his temper issues, Burhan saying that heâs upset with life. Itâs all boiling up. Also he JUST refused the help Nashwa tried to get him - all of it culminating in his fit of temper towards Asad which might probably end up getting him killed. Eventually if Ammar gets punished itâll be indirect justice for Maheen or maybe during this court proceeding a lot of his past deeds will also come into the light. Maheen wasnât the first FIR anyway.
What Iâm predicted the writer is getting to - when it comes to punishment for characters like Bakhtiyar and Barkat - will be through their children. Ammar ending up in jail or dying and Beenish becoming a widow - just like Bisma was and how they mistreated her. They couldnât respect her and now Beenish will suffer a similar fate. Itâs twisted, yes. But killing either Bakhtiyar or Barkat off is just TOO easy. I want them to see their deeds come to haunt them and for them to be in pain for the rest of their miserable lives. I love Beenish and she doesnât deserve this but sometimes for villains it only hurts when the harm hits this close to home. Otherwise Maheen, many others - they donât care, theyâll still defend Ammar - but if something he does hits too close to home, that would be the final nail in the coffin.
Nashwa had a line early on in the show where she says Ammar iss se bara koi gunaah karat ga phir pata chalay ga en sab ko⌠something along these lines. At the time it seemed strange because rape/murder se bara kya ho sakta hai⌠but maybe it was meant to foreshadow how Ammar will end up being responsible for the harm/death to someone close to them. Someone who is family. Or somehow involved in it.
Excited for next week! I am super invested in the crime arc now and would prefer if we donât get any more scenes of Burhan moping. Kafi Ho gya hai ab. Lawyer mode waapis aana chahiye ab
