But where it glorified. I didn't know it was based on real life. I thought it was a normal drama something along the lines of Ruswai?

Ok, i had no idea. I watched it like any another drama. Got to know now only

Bold: bro of course I didn't know about it. Watched the drama today only and I commented just after watching it. There is no hype regarding it for me to know about it and I can't be knowing about everything in the world.I didn't even know that it existed till I scrolled geo channel on YouTube. I was watching already an ITV show, and was away from PTV anyways.

Nonetheless, thanks for the info.

The drama earlier got banned by PEMra due to this issue, then came back on air again because the court allowed it. However, the victim was not happy. She was hysterical when she came to know that they made a story on her. They even kept the names of the kids same. If you wanna know the real incident, you can search up The Motorway Incident in Lahore.

I watched one episode to check what it was about when the drama got banned, I was intrigued. I saw the part where she gets raped in front of her son. It was disturbing. I didn't watch the rest of it.smiley18 Even if it wasn't based on a real incident, I still think this drama is too depressing and traumatising to watch.smiley19

Some people may like it, to each their own. My only problem is with the channel that they gave more importance to money than a person's emotions.

Ah , to be honest, I don't mind such dramas because it does make people aware about their rights. But it was completely wrong on channel's behalf and also makers for not taking the consent of the tje survivor if they made it on her life.

I don't find such dramas bad because it does make you aware and attentive about real life issues because not everyone is aware and watches news. It was depressing but it also shows the real picture, not accurately but too some extent. At least better than all those dramas where toxic relationships and such events are being romanticised and also the abuser gets away with sympathy.

The drama wasn't bad and I didn't find any kind of romanticisation and glorification in it. Their biggest mistake is that they didn't care about the victim's consent, which they should have taken, that's where they did blunder. Baki channels have never cared about people's emotions, we all know how they were about to glorify and romanticise MR in TB when there would be so many women who would be the victim of MR in real life.

In a way, the show does make us more aware about the incident and how it affected her life. I didn't know much about the incident before this show, but this show made me do research on it and I got to know all the details. Still I did feel bad for the woman who had to go through all the pain and then relive it all again by seeing it on TV.smiley19 Being inspired by someone's story and creating your own is one thing, but copying the whole incident is wrong I feel.

I might check the ending out though. I hope she gets justice at the end and I hope the real victim somehow feels better about seeing the character get justice.smiley19

I read about the motorway incident. To be honest, if the makers mentioned that it was taken from that particular incident, then they should have taken consent of the survivor but if it was not from that particular incident, then I don't think that the drama and makers did anything wrong if they took inspiration from real life multiple incidents. It has happened before with many dramas based on real life incidents. This isn't the first case which has happened, even before this in India, I have read about so many cases where the same incident have been repeated on less busier roads at night or on highways, not only at nights, but even during daytime. This is definitely an eye-opener. The drama gives a good message in many ways where a working woman stands up on her own after that incident and fights back with the support of her children, even goes against her husband and divorces him. And wins in the end and continues to inspire other women and families with the power of social media.

Also, it was not exactly as motorway incident. Only the r*** part was same which not necessarily might have been taken from that incident because I know about such incidents happening in my country too so many times. I think, makers might have taken this from multiple incidents taking place all over the world which is fine. They didn't normalise it. But took a strong stand against such incidents. I didn't find any reason for the drama to be banned, and makers have already claimed that their drama isn't based on that particular incident. I am glad, it was allowed to run. I liked it.

Although, I do agree with Hadiqa's pov here that such dramas should always be aired with trigger warnings for the sake of multiple victims suffering. That's where these makers and channel people become insensitive regarding victim's suffering. I hope, they learn in future and be more cautious. Maybe, they can have a conversation with the victims ( if victims are comfortable) and ask their permission of what to be shown or not but they should not stop making such dramas based on real incidents.

So apart from victim's complaint, people had issues regarding the image of Pakistan, which may get destroyed because of this drama, so they wanted the drama to be banned which is an absolute illogical reasoning to ban it. It's not only in Pakistan but even in India, such incidents have taken place and still take place. One can't stop showing the real picture just because it tarnishes the image of a country. I have read and heard about exactly same incidents in day today basis in India . I wish, these people should take stand on something like romanticising toxic relationships in dramas which is more dangerous and actually show the false picture in the world of a country people. I have seen Pak dramas and Bollywood movies which normalise marital r*** , or girl marrying her r***** or abuser for the sake of society, which is more triggering.

I think, that's fine because the drama is based on sensitive issue, so discussion is bound to happen.
