This is exactly what happened…it switched genres in the end. If you forget trying to look for a twist, it was pretty good but it’s not what I signed up for. I wanted a true thriller. The performances were good though. People kept saying that Dure-fishan isn’t a good actress - I haven’t seen her anything else before but she was good here. Wahaj can really switch it up for roles…every role he plays is so different yet convincing. Not once does it seem like this is the same guy who plays Murtasim. Tooba was good too…she played the mature role very well. Surprisingly she had good chemistry with Wahaj. I wish the end had more to offer.Originally posted by: hypnotoad
Jurm switched genres at the end - it went from being a thriller to social commentary.
I am all for subverting genre expectations, but I don't think this is it. As someone expecting a pulpy thriller, I felt short changed by the ending.
In a way, the ending was a commentary itself on the audience of the show - like Ashley and her viewers, the audience of Jurm were also expecting sinister twists and sensational reveals. But the truth is far more mundane and boring. While I appreciate the message and see the irony of it, I still wish had ended on a different note.
