Hello girls ( and boys if there are any ) !!! 😃

Good morning ! I am Mili, recently started watching Pakistani shows. Watched Humsafar about 1-2 yrs ago on Netflix and just amazed at the story telling. From a recommendation from a couple of friends, I watched some more recently ( Yaqeen ka Safar, Mera humdum, mera dost, Besharam and Bashar Momin ).

At any rate, this is what I watched recently per recommendation by YouTube. I had to regurgitate so much stuff about this show and I stumbled on this topic in the forum. I am assuming some of you must have watched it and is old news for you guys, but please bear with me as I write this.

Before I start, I am known to write long posts and sarcastic to the core if something irritates me. This is my disclaimer. Long post alert😃so, girls who don't like reading long posts and don't want their minds corrupted, you have been warned😃

It has started as an interesting and sweet story, which rapidly deteriorated into a confusing mess. This is almost a case study about ' how to successfully ruin a nice and sweet story'😡I am writing this because, I loved character Minahil.

So, here we go ! First off, I will start with the people I could care less in the show:

Minahil's Taaya's family, I don't want to talk about🥱

Shahana, I don't want to talk about🥱 Because, I really don't think that she is particularly smart or shrewd , but it is the collective stupidity of the Afraaz house's men which caused trouble for that family. They should name it ullus nest, as sab ke sab mard in that house ullu bann ne ki tayari me rahein for the whole time. So, there you go.....

Dr. Fahad seemed more like a marriage counselor to Afraaz than a real medical doctor. Heck, to the point of watching in the last scene where Shahana collapses to the floor, he looked so uncomfortable that he simply walked off😲. Doctor hi haina yeh or was I mistaken? Him and Afraaz bored me to death with tu pyar karte ho- mein nahi pyar karta AND no talaaq- yes talaaq banter whenever they met. Aur koi bhi topics nahin hote in between these best friends to talk about or engage in?

I don't know the purpose of Minahil's dad's existence🤢. Just to destroy his both daughters' lives with his own subservient attitude, his own buzdil 👎🏼when it came to just about everybody around him except the poor wife and children. The wife and children uska cowardice ke shikar bann gayein again and again and again....... Heart ko pakad, pakad ke, he destroyed all of them😡

I don't want to get started on Minahil's mom who did and said the wrong thing at the wrong time ALWAYS😡 Jab usse stand leni thi for both the daughters, woh chup kar ke wept buckets, when her daughters were made bali ke bakras😡. When her older daughter is about to find her happiness with her husband, then sab kuch satyanash kar li with her meaningless banter and useless adamance🤢. She is mad that her daughter is kept in a guest room in the in-law's house instead of the husband's room after her very weird wedding with the husbandIsme itni naraaz, shock and offend hone ki kya baath thi, for the life of me, I didn't understand. Shukar hai that the girl was given enough space and time instead of being forced👍🏼to do something she didn't want. Usse maalum haina that her daughter is not at fault and that she is thrust forcibly at the husband guy she is married to?

Shumail, I liked her in the beginning, but this character deteriorated so fast once Minahil is removed from that miserable house and Shumail is now in place of Minahil. I would like to highlight these incidents which left a bad taste in my mouth. I may be wrong, but this is my perception. Maana hain ki uski koi bhi kusoor nahi ki she started getting attracted towards Mehroz. But, it was very difficult for me to watch her engaging with a longing in her eyes with Mehroz the same day she did her Nikaah with the useless guy. I know that she physically pushed him away but her body language tells you a different story. I don't know if the actress or director is at fault or what. I would have loved it if she is shown as being numb on Day # 1 after her devastating nikhaa, unable to process anything. I do understand the attraction/mohabbat wouldn't switch off just like that, but on day # 1, that sequence shouldn't have been there. Secondly, both her and her mom walking away from Afraaz's house because he asked her to apologize is.......How the hell did they think that after that fiasco, Minahil and Afraaz would be normal? Vakeel saab ke baare mein toh😡, I will get there next, but only talking about Shuamail here. Thirdly, accusing Afraaz of using her as a barter to advance his career is not becoming of a innocent, little sister he envisioned her to be👎🏼🤢 Come on, this guy stood by that family throughout their bad times, whatever his and Minahil's equation might be, how the hell does she have the gall to accuse him😡 I hated that character towards the end.

Nimra, I had nothing but sympathy for this character. She turned out to be a paper tiger after all, a puppet in the hands of her aunt. A really sad story for this character to produce DNA proof for her husband, so he can show to the world how much of a man he is 😭I know she did some stupid stuff but had the courage unlike a lot of others to come out into the open in a open court room to accept her wrong doing and apologize in front of the world. Great progression of this character👍🏼

OK, more to come ..... about other characters. Please feel free to write about your perceptions.

OK.... Continuing some more......

Mehroz, this guy had my heart in the beginning, an adorable, innocent younger brother to both Afraaz and Minahil. But the moment, he started using gross language against his bhaabhi whom he knows is a sweet heart, and knowing her helplessness and the circumstances that made her land up as his brother's wife, he lost all my love. He is not a small kid not to understand what that cruelty does to that young girl👎🏼😡. I will not take any excuses from him, mother less bacha or whatever else for that.

Ahmed, Ewwww........ character, once Shahana turned up. This guy thoroughly grossed me out with romance, as I was hoping more for Afraaz, Minahil's romance. Even with all of this, I liked his equation with Minahil throughout. He truly treated her as his daughter. Only in the last episode he also lost his mind, when it came to Minahil👎🏼. I have never watched a talaaq sequence in either real or reel ever, pardon my ignorance people, if I am offending anybody, but that sequence even if it is delivered to an unsavory character is gut wrenching😭I think all the characters had the saddest expressions, as expected😭That really hit me in the gut.

Athiya, a great character. She didn't speak much, but when she did, she spoke directly, clearly and with so much conviction. She is one straightforward woman who didn't really shy away from speaking her mind or the truth. She delivered nothing but the truth tea, bitter, piping hot with no malai or sugar. Great support, a kind companion for Minahil during her initial devastating days.

More to come on the leads.....

Afraaz, where do I start with this guy????

I loved this character in the beginning, strong, confident, responsible, dependable, worldly wise guy, a pillar in that family and to his wife's family. A guy with a truly big heart. His only demon, his past with Nimra. He never tried to use that against Minahil as in " all women are......." till the end, which I commend.

The actor did a phenomenal job in showing his changing feelings towards his wife, from sympathy, to fondness, to protectiveness, responsibility to outrage at her being dragged in dirt even if it is his own kid brother👍🏼Kind of fun even to watch him fight with himself with his own changing feelings. It is heartwarming to watch him enjoy the pure innocence and joy, unadulterated love and affection, her blatant love and care for him, the simplicity of his young bride, Minahil. He is simply amazed at all the facets of that young girl and couldn't help himself falling hard, hook, line and sinker😃❤️My God, I had so much fun and laughed my head off as he spoke on the phone about the cushions on the bed, a conversation he doesn't want to end while she is embarrassed beyond means🤣and how different people bring it up later on much to his embarrassment🤣

He had my heart when he was fiercely protective of Minahil when Mehroz called her ........😡I truly, truly thought that he is laying a trap for Shahana, but alas!!!😲It didn't turn out that way, instead they decided to turn his character also into a nincompoop🤢. Shame on you, writer but destroying this guy into somebody he shouldn't be. To the writer's credit, the confession scenes and romance are very heartwarming, touching and authentic with no melodrama. They are absolute bliss! Who would have thought that this guy who called her a baccha would tell her he loves her casually during a car ride? 🤣I loved it for being a very natural, blurting out of his love. As simple as that.

Not sure what happened with return of Shahana, I couldn't believe he would be in line to become the biggest ullu of all, a mama's boy🤢He forgot the principles of his profession, the first and foremost principle that justice is blind to how people and circumstances look, but should be solely based on solid evidence, thoroughly vetted out. He came in the middle of a conversation between Shahana and Shumail and demanded an apology without even giving an opportunity to hear her end of the story. For a guy who has a good, firm head on his shoulders, how the hell would he believe any transgressions from Minahil, chaahein woh kuch bhi dekh lein 😭or kuch bhi dikhaye jayein? HOW ? HOW?😡

How does a lawyer end up being a sitting duck for a unsavory character to fill his ears with gobbledygook? This guy is a mashoor human rights lawyer haina, a larger than life figure, how is he not able to handle his own marriage and his love for his wife? His repeated assurance to Minahil that this house is hers and then in the same breath turn around to tell himself and to others that he is only temporarily married to his bride is not becoming of a mature, level headed guy. The way he jumps the gun every time something happens, to show Minahil the door is unsavory. I am utterly confused towards the end as to which phase he is in at any given moment, talaaq phase or no talaaq phase.

We didn't even get to hear his heartfelt apology for blaming her or not keeping his end of the bargain when it came to taking care of her family in her absence. A big let down in story telling👎🏼

The actor is amazing, A +++ from my end!

Minhal, this character has my heart fully❤️🤗

I will confess upfront, that I didn't like the actress ( I guess more of the looks on how shabbily she was put together ) when I started watching. Shame on me for that😒. She won me completely over by a few episodes. 👏👍🏼

The transition she showed is truly, truly breathtaking. She is a suppressed soul living in the shroud of her family, her wishes, her happiness bargained off in order for her father to be in the good books of his brother and SIL. Such a sad life for a young girl ! What a blessing in disguise that was , that, that night happened and kudos to her Taayi amma to have catapulted out of that depressing family. 👍🏼

She slowly blossomed into this young, fiesty woman, who could speak her mind clearly, utterly filterless, transparent, thoroughly nurtured by her husband's family. Totally fearless to show whatever she felt, whether it was joy, wonderment, fear, sadness, affection, care, love or distaste. She is effervescent as she speaks with Afraaz, a liberty she took with him, and we could see that he thoroughly enjoyed and amused by that, he can hardly hide his laughter. Totally filterless as she utters, majaak is not equal to pyar🤣🤣as everybody told her and that she is right🤣. Mein kya karu iss ladki ko?🤗Or the fact that she took pains to look good for him, she just blatantly utters these things with no care in the world🤣Such a refreshing character❤️Or very casually tells him about her nafl for his salamati. How endearing❤️just to be able to say what is on your mind. She doesn't hide her displeasure when she sees Afraaz talking to Nimra and feels threatened. Kya cheez hain yeh ladki ? 😃She doesn't have one mean bone in her body. Later on, Afraaz described her accurately as somebody who knows nothing, but samajdaar at the same time, I don't remember all the things he says, but it is very apt👍🏼

She delivers a gut wrenching punch when she says dejectedly, she has no " house", she is been thrown out by her family and she doesn't expect her husband to shoulder her burden forever. Very sad but very matter of fact.

The actress did an amazing job, a twinkle in her eyes, a wonderment, an easy smile, joy or embarrassment as she listens to her husband and hears what she wants to hear, she made every emotion palpable. Kudos for this girl !❤️🤗

Minahil is precious😭🤗

OK, girls, I am done. Please feel free to share if you have already watched the show. If not, I would advocate to watch the show for a phenomenon called Minahil. But put your brains in your pockets with all other characters.

Characters, Minahil and Athiya are the stars of the show👍🏼

I loved reading this long and detailed review of Badnaam. I still remember how I felt the first time I watched it. ❤️

I wasn't a fan of Sanam Chaudhry nor Ali Kazmi..but after it I became one. I think you'll love to watch Kathputli , coz Sanam Ch. did another amazing piece of act in it. 😃

Thank you both, my friends. Glad to entertain😃

Awida, thanks for the recommendation. The girl is an absolute delight👍🏼.

I still can't get over her " you are much older than me" and he is seriously offended🤣but also bursting at the seams with laughter. And the final authority with which she says mazaak, mazaak hota hain, mazaak pyaar nahin hota . I knew it even though all the others said mazaak equals pyaar🤣🤣The guy is totally bewildered when he heard this. At the same time to humor her, he offers her to take her out to her mother's house to show herself off?😃Oh God! that was hilarious.

About the show you suggested, please tell me my friend, does this show have a satisfactory and happy ending? That is the only complaint I have against Pakistani shows, some of them are breaking my heart at the end💔So, unless somebody recommends, I am not watching by myself. With all the doom and gloom around us, I am going to confine myself to more of the feel good shows with heart touching narrative such as this show and the ones I listed, I watched above. Bollywood ke movies mein pale badhe haina, so can't take tragedy

So, please if you have any recommendations to suit this, I would love it.

Have a great day !😃
