| | | Maid in Mumbai: Maria Watsi | It's a dream come true for Pakistani actress Maria Watsi, who's currently shooting in Mumbai for her serial, Yeh Vaada Rahha. An Indo-Pak venture, the cast includes actors from both countries.
Says Maria, "This is my first visit to Mumbai and it has been a beautiful experience working in the project, so far."
Talking about the different working styles in India and Pakistan, Maria says, "I have been shooting here for the past few days and I am enjoying every moment of it. Both the countries share the same history and also share a similar passion for television and films. But I must admit that the Indian television industry is far more professional and organised."
The serial has Indian actors like Pankaj Dheer, Shahbaaz Khan, Nishigandha Wad, while Imran Abbas is the other actor from Pakistan.
Talking about her character in the serial, Maria says, "My role is that of an NGO activist. She is the daughter of a leading businessman, while her boyfriend belongs to a rival family of politicians. For the past few months, I have interacted with people from various NGOs to get under the skin of the character."
Which are the places that she would like to visit in India? "I will be shooting here for a couple of months. Then I am planning to visit places like Jaipur, Agra and Goa," she says.
Interestingly, the actress has her roots in Mumbai. She says, "My grandparents lived here in Mumbai and my father was born here before they shifted to Pakistan. It feels nice to be able to visit the place about which I have been hearing so much since childhood," she adds.
Is she looking forward to pursue an acting career in Mumbai? "I have come here to complete this project and would like to go back home, as soon as I am done," she says. |
