God that incompetent Nabeel Gabol too won with 100% votes. Somebody needs put an end to MQM oppression in karachi. The goons will rot in hell; elections need to be re-conducted all over karachi under army vigilance.

Shakeel Akram, 40, said he had flown in from Nigeria, where he works, for 24 hours in order to vote for the first time.

He said a shattered economy and a lively media which were active in highlighting injustice had energised first-time voters.

"The country is in a pathetic state," he said, as he queued to cast his vote for Mr Khan.

"We don't want just the same old faces back in power.

"We want to get out of the vicious circle."
