Same here Kavi/Sue akka. Never heard before!. I always prepare mine ahead and keep it in an air-tight container/Jar and use it whenever I need it. 😊

Supree I am very happy that you post recipes and pictures.
It does not matter, because normally two recipes will not exactly be the same. Some plus and minus. Anyway we can try out both the methods.
Well today's evening dinner is rice upma.
Let me cook and post, we will have two types of rice upma then, yours and mine. Thanks Supree again for keeping this thread alive.

Kavi a big hug and thanks to you 😳 . I seldom have time for cooking. But now with all of your recipes and the others, i make sure to do cookings on sundays no matter how tired i am. And with all this new dishes, im becaming the best daughter-in-law 😆 😆 Thanks to everyone 😳

Kavi I tried your spicy bitter gourd, but I add 2 tbs extra chilie powder, turn out to be so good, my parents enjoyed it so much.

Supree, I tried your vendakkai curry as well, I liked it so much.

For thaipusam I cooked valakkai podimas, I forced all of my family members to eat 😆😆, eventhough they had lunch at temple 😆😆

Vani thanks ma for trying the recipe. I can see smoke coming out from everyone's ears. Only joking, the recipes are only guidelines. You can plus and minus certain items according to your taste. Thanks again Vani. Both of you made my day.

Sue Akka all cup measurements for you.

RICE RAVA UPPUMA

Ingredients:
1 cup rice rava
5 green chillies sliced
1 tsp crushed pepper corns
2 tbs fresh coconut (optional )
2 tbs green peas ( optional) I did not use
1 tbs chopped coriander leaves
2 cups water
2 tbs oil or ghee
Salt to taste

For seasonings:
tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urad dal 2 tsp
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 tsp bengal gram dal
1 pinch of asafotida
1 sprig curry leaves
1 tbs cashew nuts (optional )
1 dried red chillie cut into small pieces.

Method:
Heat a wok, and pour in the oil or ghee.
Add in the seasonings one by one and fry till the dals
Turn slightly brown. adAdd in the sliced chillies .
Stir for a moment, add in the water, salt and pepper corns.
You can add in the green peas now if you are using.
Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and add in the rava little by little
While stirring it slowly. Stir well so that all the spices
Have mixed well. Close with a lid and let it cook for a minute
On a very, very slow flame. Stir now and then cook till all the
Water is absorbed. Now add in the fresh coconut and stir well.
Remove from the stove and garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve with the chutney of your choice.
I have tomato thokku with the uppuma.
