Kavita,
Unless vegetables are added, Semia/Rice sticks are not healthy. It's like taking plain rice.

I come home tired from the office and make a quick meal out of rice sticks, that's similar to semia. It's a painful job breaking it. Podi podia pannanum. It needs to be stamed/boiled for about 10 minutes. Not over boiled surely. Then rinced in cold water. Nalla utharanum, and then kadugu/pacchamolaga thalichu pottu mix the rice sticks. Add lemon and salt for taste.

Dear Jagdu, you are right, but we do not consume it daily. Just for a change we do different types of sevai once in a while. We get ready made broken semia nowadays. I posted a picture of broken semia. Even you get dried idiyappams. nowadays. Appuram, if you want to eat you have to work a little. Thanks Jadgu for visiting the recipe thread.

No ambi, see that it is not over boiled. Drain the water, and rinse it in ice cold water. This process stops cooking and also removes the stickness. Keep it cool. Then you can add it to any dish. This is only for if you are using semiya. No need this step if using rice noodles.

I must ask your forgiveness, as I should have written about this step first. I overlooked this point. Thanks for alerting me.Sorry. Kavitha Ravi.

Note I have one more sevai, that is tomato sevai. I will post later. Thanks. Kavi.
