Life is so like the sea

Every second a wave after wave.countless waves are born and borne
and come crashing on to the shore and are drawn back into the murky depths of the sea
Life after life is born and borne by fate and destiny and crashes into death
and is drawn back into the unknown depths of life itself
Here today, gone now or going any moment
just like small waves and big waves all coming and going
why even the gigantic tsunami comes bearing death and destruction
but in the end flows back to the sea where it was born
Our lives are like that for good or evil men
come bearing good and come bearing death and destruction
but even they go into death and oblivion
Oh what a folly to think we are here forever when the clock is ticking
Time is waiting for you,me and all of us.
I stood and removed my shoes and walked the shore and looked back
and my footprints deep and clear just a second earlier was washed clean
do you know what i am saying and what i really mean

Personally, I have realized when two people want to be together...
they will find a way to stay together, no matter what happens.
The rest remains immaterial and insignificant...because they are determined to work together to solve their issues and to keep moving forward.
I think healthy fights are a good way to communicate those differences between two people...
but the bottom line is - it is not about "you" against "me"...it's about "we" against the problem.
When that thought clicks into the egoistic head, everything else falls into place.
I also feel it's important to think outside the box to keep the relationship alive.
Fights can only be ugly if you let it be...
they can be a lovely turn-on and a real charmer if you want it to be too.
You never realize someone can evoke such strong emotions in you until you are hurt or angry with the person you love.
You never realize you can evoke such strong emotions in another person until you do or say something you shouldn't have to hurt their feelings.
And that's only because even in the most heated, well-defined arguments, love is still blazing like a huge forest fire between two blind people.
I strongly feel the opposite of love is not hate, it is being indifferent.
When you stop caring...who cares who is right or who is wrong or if both are right?
Does it really matter in the end?

Thoughts from my shooting location

I had a couple of hours of free time
Free to change from the uniform of a cop
so i decided to hop out of it and climb the nearby mountain top
Three towered brick castle with many blue gates
i skipped out of it and into a green grassy sea
it brought a smile and melted away my hate that lay inside the gate
toes peeping from my floaters, touching the green stalks
i walked in solitude and in peace and the bird spoke
he went 'hoop, hoop" and said he is called uppan in malayalam
narrow path of reddish soil, crumbling among fields of grass
The green oceans were guarded by rusty gates held by rusty chains
and though they beckoned, come and step on our carpets
i gave it a miss and blew them all a kiss
i saw many dead men, well dead trees felled and piled up
as soldiers are felled and piled up for mass burials
i saw red bugs playing and having fun on a green leaf
the hour sped away and it took away the heaviness of the soul
i made my way back and from the dark i saw light
and in the light, glinted a red cycle
red bugs and red cycle
and the uppan went " hoop, hoop"

Chapter 71

"It is an illusion that youth is happy, an illusion of those who have lost it; but the young know they are wretched for they are full of the truthless ideal which have been instilled into them, and each time they come in contact with the real, they are bruised and wounded. It looks as if they were victims of a conspiracy; for the books they read, ideal by the necessity of selection, and the conversation of their elders, who look back upon the past through a rosy haze of forgetfulness, prepare them for an unreal life. They must discover for themselves that all they have read and all they have been told are lies, lies, lies; and each discovery is another nail driven into the body on the cross of life."? W. Somerset Maugham, Of Human Bondage

The prince, soon to be king stood in the darkness and the light beckoned him with open arms.He was still unsure and a bit scared of the outside world and a world far removed from the world he had been born to.He wondered where he would go,what he would do when hungry and where to sleep when tired. The voice whispered " the whole universe is yours, the earth is your bed and the sky your roof.Do you want food and wine for your soul or do you want food and wine for your body ? Come,my prince, come now and walk in the light and away from darkness.Your light will be the light of the universe and as long as there is life, your light will shine brightly and lead others into the light and away from the darkness of existence."

Siddhartha smiled and shed his clothes and the life he had known. It had been 29 years ago that he had been born on a full moon night and now with the same full moon shining on him,he walked with the nakedness he had come into this world and immediately knew that he was a new person. He realised that he was walking a path from which others would learn and understand.

Siddhartha left the palace quietly and entered the forest as Buddha,The enlightened one

Choose the path Azhagan and rise from the darkness

Azhagan stood under the blazing morning sun and watched the dust settle as Thenmozhi and her companions raced away on their horses towards Madurai. The mortal blow to his soul from losing Avini was now more painful with this confusion that Thenmozhi had brought to his already heavy mind.He ached to lay his head on his mother's lap and talk to her from his soul. For the first time in his life he realised that life and living it was not as easy as he thought it would be.

Azhagan slowly walked to the stream,Sivatheertham and walked waist deep into it and faced the east. " mother, what am i to do ? do i fight for my love and hurt the king who has decided otherwise or should i just let go of Thenmozhi and wait for things to develop and then decide ? i did not know love was so complicated and i thought all love was as pure as the one we shared."

The waters gurgled and whispered and gently caressed Azhagan's body and he felt his mother's arms in their liquid embrace.Small fishes gently kissed his feet and tickled his thighs with their noses and the tears of Azhagan joined with Sivatheertham and darkness fell over him.His breast tightened with anger and sadness and his mind echoed the last words of the assassin Veerabhadran " Rajendra cholan,Rajendra cholan was the one who hired us " and he knew what he had to do.

The remaining villagers and the ministers from Madurai watched and stood quietly as azhagan walked into the village and they felt the sadness that filled his heart.

Azhagan stood before them and addressed the ministers from madurai " Please inform the king that i will not be able to come right away as i have to go away on a personal mission and tell him that i will be there in a weeks time.Convey my request, which is to delay the celebrations and any other announcements until i stand before him and speak to him about an important matter."

Azhagan turned to the villagers " I am sorry,i am really sorry for all that has happened and i realise now that it is due to my actions that all these misfortunes have fallen on us.Please forgive me for my sins and for all the pain that i have caused you all."

The widow of the temple priest spoke with tears in her eyes " my child, you are not the son of Avini, but the child of this village. You belong to all of us.I,we cry not only for our loss but for your loss.Lost in this land, lost and forgotten among the thousands of villages in our land,Perumalvaram has become famous and all of us have gained fame and status because of you and Avini. This village has seen countless deaths over hundreds of years and people who have lived here have shed countless of tears. But that is the way of the land and the law of the land.so do not burden yourself with thoughts and words about the pain that you have caused us,for we are all willing to lay our lives for you at this second."

Azhagan opened his eyes and also opened his mind and smiled gently for he saw Avini in all of them, for he saw what his mother felt for him reflect in all their eyes.He knelt at their feet and bowed to them " i thought i was alone but i know now i am not.My mother was just one but now i see more of her in all of you.
I go now to the land of Cholas and to confront Rajendra cholan.so bless me and give me all your love."

The villagers came to him and touched his head gently and spirits of the village and the villagers were one with Azhagan.

He stood up and looked at them " i think i will be back in a few days and i want all of you to be ready for i want all of you to come with me to Madurai.I had promised and wanted to take my mother with me to see the city and meet the king but now instead of her i want all of you to come with me."

The villagers raised their hands and with raised voices loudly proclaimed " Azhagan,Azhagan"

The spirits stood silently and the king nodded " i feared for him but my trust has been justified and the faith the source has bestowed on my prince is true.It has been a thousand years since the mark of the prophecy has come alive and Azhagan wears it on his arm without even knowing who he is,and what all he can do."

I am Azhagan.I am the light that blazed from Avini.I am also called Pakalon,Maasilan,Kathiravan,Meykandan,Koman,Nikaran.

I am fire and i am water. I am hell and i am heaven and i will bring peace to you.

The boy who went into the dark and came back with light.

Death is not the final frontier

My humble tribute to M. S. Viswanathan aka Manayangath Subramanian Viswanathan aka Thirai Isai Chakravarthy aka Mellisai Mannar

"Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another." Albert Einstein

Somewhere deep in our milky way galaxy, some alien culture must be listening to the same songs that i listen to practically every morning. If i had been married to anyone else other than my wife geetha,i guess i would have been clobbered to death for playing the same songs again and again. But you might just clobber me and ask me " why alien culture " and i guess i would reply yes for most of the people we know and come across look like aliens, act like aliens and so far removed from the thing called humanity, that they have in fact become aliens.

Yes,songs like poomalayil from ooty varai uravu, neela niram from en annan, chittu kuruvi from puthiya paravai,Paalum pazhamum from Paalum pazhamum, iyarkai ennum from shanti nilayam play repeatedly in my house and i hear them constantly for they are my friends who have been with me since the time i came to chennai.well now does the song radio gaga by queen make sense.yes, radio is our best friend and i am glad that all the fm channels are doing so well. The songs and music are so much better to listen than watch the actors in the videos for they were funny then and funny now and still give me rapid bowel movement RBM.Well, i do tend to listen to some of the new songs but find myself going back to my familiar and comforting pals and that is the music of the 50's,60's,70's and 80's.Am i an old fart stuck in time warp ?

The year 1996 is significant for me for that was the year that i took baby steps in my new journey as an actor and those first steps were done with the help of the one and only G.VENKET RAM.It was sometime during may or june and i was just 3 to 4 ads old and i got a call from a gentleman named Raadhu. He asked me if i was interested in acting in a tv serial and if so could i come and meet him at his residence in mylapore.Raadhu of the stage play fame had gotten my name from my brother-in-law ramesh who works in RBI and my name came up during a conversation, when raadhu was discussing about making the famous kalyanathil galatta into tv serial.
Rewind

Raadhu was a veteran theater artiste in Tamil Nadu. He was a former RBI employee, later he had been involved with the theater for over five decades and played 47 plays and over 4000 shows across the State. He was bestowed with Kalaimamani from the Government of Tamil Nadu, Nataka Kalasarathy,Nataka Kala Sironmani and Nataka Rathna are but a few titles that he gathered for his service to the theatre. Kalyanathil Galatta, one of his more popular plays was staged on several occasions. Raadhu is featured in Limca Book of Records for the drama marathon, for staging plays for over 36 hours at a stretch- wiki

I met mr.raadhu,he of the stage drama fame and famous for staging dramas over 4,000 times and a record in the record books for staging 7 plays in one day.I in my baggy cotton pants and a casual t-shirt,slightly faded, sat before him wondering what the gentleman wanted me to do in his tv serial for i was all thumbs and two left feet when it came to acting. He said that is suited an important role of a prince who is the actual owner of all the wealth that the rest of the characters are fighting over.I told him frankly that i was no good and had no experience and since he was using all the original stage actors in the tv serial,i would be lost, lonely and surely mocked for my inexperience. He said it would be all right and also would be a learning experience and it was.For i got to see,act and learn how actors perform for i had Nagesh, kathadi ramamurthy, sachu amma, kootha biran, junior prabhu deva aka balaji and a few other pesky pests who kept giving me bad vibes with their vegetarian bodies, but clammed up when they saw my pecs which were bigger than some women and my arms which were as big as their thighs.

I came home after nodding my assent and knowing that i would be going to school again (acting school) and my shivers started and well the next day raadhu sir called me to come and collect my advance payment cheque and also to get blessings from a famous composer.

I sat,we all sat in waiting and guess who walked through the door, but the great composer,Mellisai Mannar MSV himself we were all introduced to him and he gave us all his blessings. He pinched my cheek and said " raja veshathukku correcta irukkaan ".

For two hours,we sat around him as he composed the theme and tracks for the serial and i wonder how many tv actors or for that matter film actors have had the same privilege, yes privilege that i was blessed with. But honestly i feel that listening to all the classic songs is more of a privilege. From my childhood, radio, films, black and white doordarshan and now four or five channels in my tata sky have been playing some of my favourite songs and i hope i can listen to them long into the night and long into my life

Radio waves are a form of electromagnetic radiation - the same phenomenon as light, X-rays and various other types of radiation, but with much longer wavelengths. As such, they travel at the speed of light (ie 300,000 kilometres/186,000 miles per second) - a lot faster than the 340 metres (1,125 feet) per second that sound itself moves through the air. It's easy to be fooled by the fact that when you hear the word radio', you usually think of voices or music, but radio waves aren't sounds themselves - just the medium used to broadcast an electronic signal from the studio to your hi-fi, which the speaker then turns back into the vibrations in the air which we hear.

So,how far do you think the music of MSV would have traveled through space from the time he started composing in the 50's.

I would love to think and maybe it is happening right now, that in some far off planet or planet like body orbiting some star among the billions of stars in our own milky way galaxy, and alien culture maybe similar to our own life is sitting and enjoying the songs and music of msv and all the great composers like him.

Thank you MSV for all the music then, now and forever.Godspeed and may you rest in peace forever.Be well.

Nice post...brings back nostalgic memories to mind.
Wow. I never knew you had the special privilege of meeting the late MSV in person.
That is a rare honour indeed.

In many ways, I have always felt like an alien while listening to black and white songs...
I grew up in a different era, lived in a different country, grew up in a different culture and understood life in a different language.

But till date, no song has emotionally pulled and captured the depth of my soul like MSV's haunting theme song "Nenjam Marappathillai".
It transcends many births and many deaths to emerge as an immortal masterpiece.
I don't know why...but it's a song that makes today's world of romance feel very superficial and fickle-minded.

I guess that is the power of MSV sir's music.
He may or may not be remembered by future generations...
but truly...the heart can never forget his soulful tunes.
May His soul rest in peace.

Death sentence for killer stray dogs

The Kerala State government on Friday said that "rabid and dangerous" stray dogs would be culled.

Rabies is a viral disease that causes acute inflammation of the brain in humans and other warm-blooded animals. Early symptoms can include fever and tingling at the site of exposure. These symptoms are followed by one or more of the following symptoms: violent movements, uncontrolled excitement, fear of water, an inability to move parts of the body, confusion, and loss of consciousness.Once symptoms appear it nearly always results in death.Rabies causes about 26,000 to 55,000 deaths worldwide per year. More than 95% of these deaths occur in Asia and Africa.Rabies is present in more than 150 countries and on all continents but Antarctica.More than 3 billion people live in regions of the world where rabies occurs.

Agreed, wholeheartedly agree to the above mentioned and proven facts that rabid dogs are dangerous and should be put down. But in the name and in the cause of protecting people from rabies, the people who are in charge with killing the rabid animals are caught in a hysteria and go about killing healthy dogs, innocent dogs, days old puppies and sometime even pets belonging to owners who stray out of the house to poop.

Right, so the earth belongs to humans only for that is how we have, are and will behave until we turn on each other and eat one another alive. It could be due to hunger or rabies or some exotic viral infection.

I yell this point,i scream at the top of my lungs and point out to the general public to come to Besant nagar during the weekend and see for themselves how many dogs are abandoned and left to suffer without food or shelter.

Okay, rabies is a viral based disease and is dangerous to the dogs and the human which the infect. But pray tell me what corruption, rapes, molestations, criminal activities are and with which or what virus they are infected with.

The government is planning to cull stray and rabid dogs but what about the people who raped Nirbhaya repeatedly and then threw her out of the bus.Shouldn't they be culled. What about all the corrupt politicians who take thousands of crores in bribes and what about the cops who take bribes just to do their jobs for which they are paid salaries.

In the end don't you think that rabid dogs are better than corrupt politicians and criminals who indulge in raping, maiming and killing.

Silence is Golden

As Air Force One arrives at the Heathrow Airport , President Obama strides to a warm and dignified reception from the Queen.

They are driven in a 1934 Bentley to the edge of central London, where they change
to a magnificent 17th century carriage hitched to six white horses. They continue on
towards the Buckingham Palace, waving to the thousands of cheering Britons; all is going well.

Suddenly, the right rear horse lets out the most horrendous earth shattering fart ever heard in the British Empire. The smell is so atrocious that both the passengers in the carriage, must use handkerchiefs over their noses. The fart shakes the coach, but, the two dignitaries of State do their best to ignore the incident.

The Queen politely turns to President Obama: "Mr President, please, accept my regrets...I am sure you understand there are some things that even a Queen cannot control."

Obama, always trying to be "Presidential," responded:
"Your Majesty, do not give the matter another thought...Until you mentioned it, I thought it was one of the horses."

Moral of the story: "Silence is Golden"
