S he's a familiar face on television. Seen in Star One's Ha Ha Ha, the comedy show, Purbhi Joshi has kept herself restricted to just this show. Says she, "I am very selective and I can afford to be so. The day it becomes difficult to earn my bread and butter, then I might think of taking up any- thing that comes my way. Today, I can choose to take on only quality work." Last seen in Aruna Irani's Mehandi Tere Naam Ki, Joshi gave it up when the offer of Ha Ha Ha came along. "I share a good equation with Aruna- ji. I know she will call me when she has the right role for me. I enjoyed doing Mehandi.. but I wasn't serious about my career. So I dabbled in some the- atre. When I got this offer for the comedy show, I jumped at it. In drama, I still haven't got any- thing substantial." Does that mean a no- no to the saas-bahu fare? "No, I didn't mean that. It's a pop- ular genre. If some- thing interesting does come my way, why not? It's just that I haven't received any good offer," she says candidly. About her current show, she says, "Ha Ha Ha is fun. It gives me a chance to do some comic acts..behaving like a small child, a house- maid and even Rakhi Sawant. "The best part is that we can mimic male actors too like Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjeev Kumar. "Also, my take-off on Hema Malini is quite pop- ular. Now which show would give such an oppor- tunity?" Her best spoof however remains the one on Kill Bill in which she played Umaben (Uma Thur- man's part) "This Gujarati character really went for the kill," she laughs.
