With the Big B descending on the small screen, Star Plus's weekend line-up is going in for a major rethink.
The second season of Kaun Banega Crorepati airs from August 5 at 9 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahiin To Hoga will air on Fridays too, at 10.30 and 11 pm respectively, from August 5. There are also two new shows — Baa, Bahoo Aur Baby and Shanno Ki Shaadi.
Kalcchakra and Khullja Sim Sim go off the air in August-end, while comedy show LOC will air at 10.30 pm on Saturdays, from August 6.
The idea behind this programming move is to attract all possible eyeballs on the weekends, pre- and post-KBC.
Says Shailja Kejriwal, creative director, Star Plus, "We are introducing soaps to keep viewers hooked on weekends too. KBC is a family viewing affair, and our weekend soaps are light and entertaining for everyone."
It's curtains for these shows
Kalcchakra
Nausheen Ali Sardar's triple-role-act will air on Saturdays at 11 pm from August 6. But it will be curtains for the show in August-end. This show has been a non-starter despite its star presence.
The channel feels that the view that they did not promote the show is uncalled for, as there are several factors that determine the marketing of a show.
Nausheen's contract with Star ends in August 2006, and the channel may offer her another show. Khullja Sim Sim
This game show, anchored by Hussain, will air at 8 pm on Saturdays from August 6, and will be replaced by the Naaved Jafri-Ravi Behl dance show, Kaboom — Duniya Hila De, by August-end. It will have Javed Jaffri and Prabhu Deva as anchors.
