Amitabh Bachchan will soon rap for cricketer Vijay Nazaare (not Hazare!), singer Bijoy Lahiri (not Bappi!) and actor Vijay Kumar (not Akshay!). These spoofs of well-known figures find a place in the new promos of Kaun Banega Crorepati 2, on Star Plus.
The three characters portray the hopes and aspirations of the masses. Anchor Amitabh Bachchan enters their lives to extend a special invitation – to be in the hotseat of KBC 2.
This invite is in the form of a rap number – "Hotseat pe milega, bhaiyya umeed se dugna," croons the Big B.
As a sequel to the current Umeed promos on Star Plus, the superstar host raps in the Umeed Se Dugna campaign as a run-up to the final countdown for the quiz show. KBC 2 airs from August 5.
Bachchan's rap numbers will premiere on Star Plus at 8 pm on June 26, during the IIFA awards. They will have three different tracks – of a cricketer, actor and singer.
This is the first time that the Bollywood icon has sung an entire rap track for an ad film.
Says Ajay Vidyasagar, senior vice-president, marketing and communications, Star Plus, "We have chosen a cricketer, an actor and singer because these are commonplace ambitions of most Indians," says.
KBC's new season offers Rs 2 crore in prize money. The promo has been directed by Rajesh Krishnan and conceptualised by Piyush Pandey and his O&M team.
"As usual I am scared, frightened and nervous," said Bachchan earlier of his comeback. Umeed, the first promo of KBC 2, was aired on May 16 across Star channels.
