CHAPTER 1 : C

"What made you think that I had an affair with your wife? Yes, My life is a bit different and it is true that I Never got married, and you see me on the page 3, with a new woman everydaybut that does not necessarily mean, that I had an affair with your wife as well" A totally infuriated Riteish spoke, while Kabir just blankly stared at him, lying on the couch. " Your wife was a really good employee of mine she was one of the best employees, that I had and now, I really feel the loss that you are suffering, Kabirmy company lost a very precious part and I am really sorry to say that she is no more" Riteish continued, as he walked towards Kabir, and placed his hand, on Kabir's shoulder, assuring him. "She is not dead" Kabir said, looking down, aimlessly. "And why would you call her at late nights, to those private parties, if you had nothing to do with herand also, it is only because of one of those parties, that she never came back homeshe never came back to me" He continued. Kabir was hysterical. Her absence was eating his insides up. "Trust meI have no connections to that incident really, I swear" Riteish said, pressurising his words. "And I swear, I never called her to any late night parties, I have no hand in this, He continued. Saurabh was irritated. "Kabirtrust me, she is no more" Saurabh, who stood silent, till now, finally said these words.

"No matter what, I will find her, when I am saying that she is alive, then she is" Kabir said, in an authoritative manner. "Thinking that, will not change anything, Kabir. Don't be so adamant Saurabh said. "Is she having an affair with someone else, that she left you? Riteish asked, and smirked a bit. Kabir stood up, silently, and his punch, this time, made Riteish's nose bleed. Kabir was angry, and he was now, not ready to even hear a single word, against his wife. "Where the hell is she, then? Kabir roared. Riteish kept wiping, the blood, off his nose, with the tissue papers, that Saurabh gave him, while Saurabh witnessed Kabir going crazy over a mystery, that maybe, didn't even exist. He understood, that only Kabir's success, in finding his wife, can stop him, and which, was, maybe, an impossible task. "Fine. I will help you but if we didn't find her in a month you will have to quit all this madness and start your life again You will have to start your Dance and also remarry and move on, an annoyed Saurabh spoke. "And I will only help you two, if you stop punching me on my nose, again, and again, Riteish spoke, covering his nose. "You are such an idiot, how do you even run the company? How did you even start it, in the first place? Saurabh asked, arching his eyebrows. "It is inherited and the rest, is my luck and employees like Nisha, Riteish said, and Kabir, finally, smiled a bit.

"I don't need anyone's help I will find my wife, myself, Kabir said, sternly. "She is my best friend too, Saurabh said. "And my, Riteish started thinking. Kabir and Saurabh looked at Riteish. " My employee I have never done a good deed in my life let me do this for my satisfaction at least, Riteish said, and Saurabh patted on his shoulder. "If you really want to help me then you can, but I am not following any terms and conditions, Kabir said, raising his hand a little, towards Saurabh. "You cannot deny my conditions, Kabir I am Nisha's best friend. Saurabh said. "Fine, anything, Kabir said. "But I have a condition too, He spoke. "What is it? Saurabh asked, and Riteish backed him. "You will never give up, in this one month and you will never, again, say, that Nisha is dead, Kabir said. "Done. Saurabh and Riteish spoke, in unison. "Fine, Kabir said. "I will ask the other employees, and check her stuff, that is still there in the office, Riteish said, and Kabir nodded. "I will check with her phone records, and stuff, Saurabh said. "And Kabir, you scrounge through her belongings, He continued. Kabir was already at his work. He was scrutinising her stuff, in her cupboards. Saurabh and Riteish sighed. "God if possible, make Kabir meet his Nisha, Saurabh mumbled his prayer to the god. Saurabh smiled, looking at Kabir, and walked out of the room, followed by Riteish.

Kabir started throwing all her belongings out of her cupboard, trying to search for something, that could take him to her. While doing all this, he completely forgot about her diary, which got hidden, somewhere beneath that heap of clothes, that he created. Empty cupboards, and not even one clue, just made him furious. He was feeling helpless. "Why would you do this to me, Nisha? You should've told me at least once, and I would've left you without a question, and that way, you would've been safe, and before me. Was I not trustable? Kabir asked, and this question only echoed, between the four walls of his room, and no reply ever came to this. His questions were drowning him, in gloom. "I will find you, Nisha, and I will seek the answers to my questions too, He mumbled. He wanted his answers anyhow, and he was going to stay calm until he gets them.

If Riteish wasn't the boss that she talked about, then who was it, that she went to meet that night, or every night, maybe? Why would she lie to Kabir? Kabir started loathing his own existence. It was as if, he suddenly realised, that his existence had no meaning to her, that she could never even trust him. She lied to him so easily. He started to feel, as if, he wasn't capable enough to be in her life. He fell in his own standards. Nisha's sudden disappearance, made her love, a big question mark, to him. Why had she married him, if she never loved him. What were all those words of love, and trust, and happiness, that she spoke to him. And what were all those sleepless, love-filled, nights, that she spent with him. Was all of it, a lie? Her void, was making him empty. These questions, were decomposing his interiors. Tears no more fell down his eyes, thinking about her. He had just cried once or twice, after that incident. Whatever that has happened to him, has happened, in such a way, that he could not even understand, why it happened. For now, he didn't even have the hope that he would meet her again, in his life, or not. He just felt his life to be incomplete without her. But he decided, never to give up on her.

"Who was her boss, if Riteish wasn't the one, to whom she used to go to? He asked himself. Kabir's mind was forcing him to believe that Nisha really had an affair with someone, and for whom, she left him. He was devastated. He hopelessly sat, beside that heap of clothes, on the bed, not knowing what to do. Saurabh gave him an ultimatum of a month, after which, he would not hesitate to declare that, Nisha, his wife, was dead. That would be his worst nightmare coming true. Would he be able to find his wife, in a month? Kabir feared this, but he had hopes, though no clues. He didn't even have a proof to say that she was alive, but it was just his hope guiding him. He plugged in his dead phone to a charger, and switched it on, after a complete week. He just kept staring at his phone, as it just kept buzzing continuously, out of several notifications. He silenced it.

He lied back on his bed, and closed his eyes, as her memories came gushing in like a cool wind. It all started with her smile, making him smile. He chuckled, as he heard her laughter, after like, a lot of days.

"It is true, that I am not dead, and you've to deal with it, as I am never coming back to you, after what you did to me today, Her voice echoed, in his mind.

"Why are you speaking like that? What was my fault? He heard his own voice.

Slowly, he realised, that they were talking over the phone.

"You still don't know? Here, I was in the hospital after getting into an accident, and you were so busy dancing and flirting with your female students, that you could not, for once, visit me? Do you even care about me? She blurted out at him, over the phone.

"But, baby, I did not know only about your accident, and moreover, when I got to know, you were already at home, and your brother told me that you were totally fine and that, the accident didn't even cause a scratch on you, He said, defending himself. "And I swear, I was in an important meeting, I wasn't doing what you are saying He continued.

"Don't blame my brother, now, She said.

"I am not blaming him, I was just telling you what had happened, actually, He said.

"Fine, if that's the case, then did you still come, to see me, after you got to know about the accident, keeping aside the thing that I was hurt or not? Did you even care to call me? She asked. The depth in her tone, indicated how broken she was. She had been crying. He started consoling her, as soon as, he realised this.

"Nisha, don't cry, I am really sorry, I swear that I was busy in the meeting, you know how stupid my clients are, He said, in a tone, which sounded like an apology.

"Congratulations, then, If some day, I die, like this, don't even come to my funeral If all that you want, after marrying me, is my body, for your needs, then Kabir, congratulations, again, on signing a contract, with me It was never a marriage, maybe Nor was there, love, She said, as she sobbed over the phone.

"Stop, Nisha, where are you taking this? Why the hell are you talking like that? Have you gone mad? He yelled at her. He was angry at her, for saying such things.

"Yes, I have gone mad, all because of you. And you'll know my pain, when I will die when you'd want to touch me, hold me, talk to me, I won't be before you. She said.

Creases of displeasure started forming on his face.

"Don't say such things, I really apologise, I can't live without you, sorry, I love you, Nisha, He mumbled, lying in the same position, like that. He opened his eyes, as he realised, that she was gone, and her curse, had become an undeniable, painful, truth, of his life. "Are you punishing me, for something? Did I go wrong again? He asked himself. "You told me, that I wasn't a curse, or a bad-luck, in anyone's life, by loving me, but as you left me, you made me curse, on my own life, He said, as he sighed.

"I will find you soon, Nisha. I know, that you are alive I will not let you die, before answering my questions. He promised himself.

CHAPTER TWO - A

"I guess, I found something, Riteish told, in the conference call, with Saurabh and Kabir. "But rather, it is strange! I don't know, if this thing has a connection to Nisha's sudden disappearance, but I really found it strange. He continued. "What is it? Kabir fumbled, but, managed to ask. "Something, which takes, a lot of efforts, to be put together, Riteish spoke. "What are you trying to say? Saurabh asked. "A few crazy things, and a series of numbers, written on a torn, piece of paper. It looks like some fancy phone number, though. I only have a half of it, the rest of the piece isn't here or maybe, it was like this, only, Riteish said, as he looked at that little piece of paper, in his hand. "Come home, we will see, what it is, Kabir mumbled. "Yeah, will be there in a while. Riteish said. "And I am at the door! Saurabh said, as he rang the doorbell of Kabir's house. Kabir hung the call, and went to the door, and opened it.

"Where did you go? Kabir asked him, as Saurabh hurried into the house. "To get the detailed bill, of Nisha's phone number! Didn't I tell you? I told you, right? Saurabh asked, in confusion. Kabir nodded. "I wasn't paying attention, then, Kabir said, with a kind of blankness spread across his face. Saurabh nodded. "Did you find anything, in her stuff? Saurabh asked. "No, not yet! Kabir said, in an extreme disappointment. "We'll do something, don't worry, Saurabh said, placing his hand over Kabir's shoulder. Kabir nodded.

Kabir fell into a trench of thoughts. Saurabh noticed this. He felt something strange about Kabir's behaviour. To be honest, he has always felt so, in these four months. Something was going on, in Kabir's mind, and Saurabh understood it. Him being so sure, that, Nisha wasn't dead, gave birth to Saurabh's suspicions, but he never dared to ask Kabir, any question, regarding the same, owing to Kabir's vulnerability. Kabir was, indeed, behaving strange. Kabir walked into his room, as Saurabh followed him in. Kabir sat on his bed, and took, the envelop, containing the bill, from Saurabh, who sat before him, and started checking on the calls. "What's the duration of this bill? Kabir asked, as he looked at it. "Six months. November, 2017, to April, this year. Saurabh said. Kabir nodded. Kabir immediately took out a highlighter, from the drawer, of the cabinet, beside the bed, and started marking something on the bill, in his hand. Saurabh was curious. He couldn't understand, what, Kabir was trying to do. Saurabh kept looking at Kabir. He had a doubt, if, he did wrong, by never questioning Kabir. Something, was definitely there, that Kabir was trying to hide, from everyone. His behaviour says it all. Him being depressed, and suicidal, is all understandable, and maybe, it can be termed as, his longing, for Nisha's love. He knew, how crazily, they loved each other. But, even after seeing the dead body, Kabir being so sure, that Nisha wasn't dead, didn't go well with Saurabh. Kabir knew something, for sure. In the beginning, Saurabh never gave a heed to Kabir's constant rant, but then, it just grew stronger, with time, and He understood, that something was definitely there. What was going on, with Kabir?

Saurabh looked, at the completely engrossed Kabir, and finally, he found the right time, to get his answers. "Kabir" Saurabh called him. "Hmm-? Kabir replied, not looking at him. "Don't mind, but I have some questions to ask! Saurabh said, in a serious tone. Kabir nodded, asking him to continue. "Why do you think, that Nisha, is alive? Saurabh asked, looking at him. Kabir immediately raised, his head, a little, to look at him. "Why are you asking me that? Kabir asked Saurabh. Saurabh looked straight, into Kabir's eyes. "Because, I think that you are hiding something, from me! Saurabh said, bluntly, arching his eyebrows. Kabir's speech paused, for a few seconds, as he stared at Saurabh, curiously. He was dumbstruck. "Why would you, think that, I hid, something from you? Kabir asked, curiously. "You didn't answer my question, yet-, Saurabh spoke. Kabir became all silent, and resumed, doing his work. Saurabh was now, sure, that something was definitely strange, with Kabir. "Kabir! Saurabh called him out. "There's nothing, you need to worry about, Saurabh-, Kabir said, looking up, at him for a second. "Kabir, tell me-, what is it? Saurabh stood up from his place, and warned Kabir. Kabir's behaviour was freaking Saurabh. "Don't shout. Sit down-, Kabir said. Saurabh sat back in his place, and looked at Kabir, furiously. "For now, just know, that she is alive, and perfectly alright-! Kabir said, in a confident tone. "And the rest, is my hope, that I will find her soon-, He said. Saurabh was baffled. What Kabir was trying to say, was out of his understanding.

"Do you even know, what your words mean-? Saurabh retorted. Kabir silently pulled, the drawer again, and took out a piece of paper from it, and handed it over, to Saurabh. "What is this? Saurabh asked, curiously. Kabir motioned him, to open it. Saurabh looked at Kabir, then, at the piece of paper. Saurabh opened the folds of the paper, and found that, it was some kind of a note. Kabir asked him to read it. "Why are there, so many numbers, in it? I don't understand, anything-? Saurabh said. He was overwrought, and baffled, at the same time. Kabir was silent. That piece of paper contained some cryptic number code.

"1985 919 1129225,

22120, 41514'20 522514

201825, 2015 69144 8518.

-25152118 2351212-239198518,

19818 14123126.

"What the hell, Kabir? Will you speak something, now? Saurabh yelled. "Read those numbers, as the position of alphabets, in the series. Kabir said. "What? Saurabh asked, as he could not understand, what Kabir wanted to say. "I meant, A-1, B-2, like that. The whole series! Kabir said, and gave him a paper, and a pen to write. Saurabh was still confused. Kabir took back the pen, and paper, and solved it for him. Saurabh was astonished, seeing what it meant. He looked at the meaning, and then at Kabir. His eyes widened, in shock.

"She is alive,

But, don't even

try, to find her.

-Your well-wisher,

Shah Nawaz.

"What? Why? How? Where? Who gave it to you? Saurabh bombarded Kabir, with so many questions, at once. "I found it under my pillow-, the day, I was leaving that hospital. Kabir said, leaning back on the headboard. "come on! We have a clue! We need to go to the police! Saurabh said. "Shahnawaz, is a police officer, himself, Saurabh. Kabir said, and sighed. Saurabh took time to realise the facts. "Do you mean to say, that, the police too, is involved in this? Saurabh asked, and Kabir nodded. "There's actually no one, we can go to" Kabir said. "And one more thing, why would Shahnawaz tell you this? Saurabh asked. "I don't know. Maybe, it was her, who wanted me to know-, Kabir said. Saurabh was jealous, but more than happy. "And what about Riteish? Saurabh asked. "Him being alive, proved, to me, that all of these things, were purposely sewn together, to make it look one. Riteish was deliberately dragged into this! And whatever has happened, all of it was planned-, Kabir said. Saurabh's hands drifted up, to his mouth, and his eyes widened, at the revelation. "Why did you never tell me all this? I thought that Nisha's absence was making you go crazy! And that's the reason, I was taking you to a psychiatrist, as well! Saurabh spoke.

"It is true, that, I am going crazy. I can't sleep, without her beside me. I can't stay, without touching her. And her words, and her love- I miss everything. And sometimes, it makes me, want to kill myself. My life, is nothing, without her, Kabir said, and heaved. "I fear, forgetting her. You won't understand, if I tell you, how desperately, I want to hold her in my arms, and kiss her. But look, how she left me, without even giving me, a proper explanation. She left me, thinking, how undeserving I was. She did not trust me. That's what, hurts me, the most Kabir said, as Saurabh stared at him, with sympathetic eyes. "But, at least, she told you, that she is alive, Saurabh said. Kabir helplessly nodded. "Why did you keep all this hidden, within you? Saurabh asked. "because of the fact, that she left, at her own will. Kabir said, and Saurabh didn't waste another moment, and hugged him, and stroked his hand, on Kabir's back. "And why, are you searching for her, now? Saurabh asked. "I just want my answers. I want, to feel her, once. Kabir said. Saurabh smiled, looking at him. Saurabh was happy, thinking how lucky, Nisha was, to get a life partner, like Kabir. He was her soulmate. " She is my everything, Saurabh! But, the very doubt, that whether, I would be able to meet her, or not, kills me everyday-, Kabir said. Saurabh placed his hand, on Kabir's arm, and assured him. The doorbell rang, disturbing their conversation, and they knew, who it was.

Saurabh went, and opened the door, and Riteish entered the house, with a carton, and a few plastic bags, in his hands. "Take the food-, fast-, things are slipping from my hands" He told Saurabh, and Saurabh, hurriedly, took the bags from Riteish's hands. "Are you, kind of, trying to shift in, here? Saurabh asked him. "It is Nisha's stuff-, Riteish said, in annoyance. Saurabh chuckled, a bit. Riteish sighed, and walked into Kabir's room, and dropped the carton, on the bed, before Kabir. "Easy, brother-, easy, Kabir said. "Your wife's stuff! Riteish yelled, taking a deep breath. "Do you mean to say, all of this? Kabir asked, pointing at the carton in front of him. Riteish helplessly nodded. "Your wife is crazy! Do you know that? Riteish said, in disbelief, as he took out broken, refill-less, pen, from the carton, and showed it to him. Kabir glared at him. "Who even collects garbage, man? Riteish yelled, and was about to throw it away, when Kabir shouted at him, and snatched the pen. Riteish raised his hands into the air, in annoyance. Kabir closely looked at the pen, and said, "Did someone ever tell you, that you are brainless? This is a pen-cam, you moron! "What? Riteish squealed, in bafflement, and leaned in, to have a look at it. What was a pen camera doing with Nisha? Was she spying on someone? Kabir ripped off its back, and saw, if there was a memory chip in it, but unfortunately, there wasn't any. "What was she doing with it? Riteish asked, as he looked closely, at the pen. "Spying on your affairs, probably! Saurabh said. "Really? Riteish asked, and his eyes widened, in shock. "Why are you so self-obsessed? Saurabh asked, arching his eyebrows. Kabir chuckled a bit. Riteish was annoyed now. He just marched out of the room, furiously. Kabir asked Saurabh, to go after Riteish.

Kabir started scrounging through the carton, and a lot of things, close to his heart, came out of it. His camcorder, was too, there, in it. He almost forgot that he had a camcorder, that Nisha took from him, two years ago, and never returned. He was relieved, as he knew he got something to cherish, at least. Their moments of love, were recorded in it. Their craziness, adventures, too. He flapped opened, its screen, and tried switching it on, but was unsuccessful, as maybe, the battery had died. He took its charger, which lied in the same carton, and plugged it in, into a power socket. He kept the camcorder aside, and started having a look at the other things. A few photographs, which made him smile, came out of it. It was like, those photographs revived his memories, of those moments. All of those memories, ran in his mind, like a movie. A romantic one.

"Walking by this enormous, blue, sea, along with her, was always a wonderful feeling. Her hand in mine, and our fingers intertwined together, tightly. Walking under this dark, evening sky, with the clouds, in the colour of charcoal, roaming above us; and, in an atmosphere, filled, with the smell of petrichor, and a hint of the saltiness, of the sea, and our laughter, was a bliss. That feeling within, was of pure happiness, and ecstasy, and nothing else. It was as if, this atmosphere, sucks out, all the worry, and displeasure, out of your life, and replaces it, with, a much needed warmth, relief, and a satisfaction, to the soul. That tingling in your feet, as the little cold waves, wash them off, was what, that made, the soul stir. We were extremely happy. Romance was spread, all over, in the wind, the gushed, across our faces.

She giggled, as I cuddled her, into my arms, and she rested, her head, against my chest. She looked, deep into my eyes, as I planted a kiss, on the crown of her head. Her dove- shaped, eyes, only described, the love, and the want, the she had for me. I tugged her hair, which fell on her face, behind her ear, and pecked on her forehead, nearing her, a little. She smiled, and brushed her fingers, softly, across my face, as I closed my eyes to feel her love-filled, touch. She was standing close, in my arms. My hand, drifted, across her waist, as I pulled her closer. I leaned in, to kiss her, and she smiled, and blushed. Her cheeks, turned crimson, and her eyes shined. She placed her fingers on my mouth, as I almost kissed her. She pushed me a little, and chuckled, as she drifted out of my arms, and ran along the seashore, as I looked at her helplessly, and smiled, like a fool. She teased me, as I ran after her, but couldn't catch her. I stopped running, feigning exhaustion. And she stopped, and turned, to look at me. She had a hearty laugh at me, looking at the way, I breathed. I took this as an opportunity, and ran towards her, and took her into my arms, before she realised, what I did. She chuckled, and only, chuckled, seeing, what an opportunist, I am.

"I have this feeling inside me, that, I never had enough of you, last night... I want more of you... I said, taking her hand in mine, and kissing her knuckles. She smiled, and kissed, on the tip of my nose.

"All of me, belongs to you..., and only, you... She said, and cupped my face, and pecked, on my lips. I felt happy. She gave me everything. She filled the void, of a family, in my life. She is my home.

"People are looking at us, Kabir..., she said, and blushed.

"let them... I don't care, as, we are on our honeymoon..., and kissing, isn't a crime... I whispered to her, held her hand, and pulled her closer, into my arms, again, as we started walking along the seashore."

He sighed, as he never got to live those moments again, with her, as she left him, just, in the middle of everything. A lone tear escaped, as he recalled, those memories. He missed, that love, that smile. He lost his home, and he felt abandoned, now.
