Nibir - Bura Damaad - Part 12 - Last Part
"Mr. Kabir Kumar, how dare you..", spluttered Nisha, blushing furiously at the same time. "You don't deny it", said Kabir, smugly. How could she deny it? Only, how did Kabir know?, thought Nisha chagrined.
"Just by the way, Kabir, it was you who ran barefeet to meet me", reminded Nisha," ate nothing, took my name in your sleep. I could say that YOU love ME". Kabir shook his head, amused. So, he seeked Nishu in his dreams too.
He caught Nisha's wrist and pulled her towards him. She lost her balance and fell on him, her hands on his chest. She started to get up so as to avoid causing him pain, Kabir was sure. He didn't allow her to move an inch, gazing into her eyes, hoping she would see through to his soul and know that whatever he spoke was from there. "You could. And you would be right. I love you. I love you a lot, Mrs. Nisha Kabir Kumar. I never thought that I would ever tell a girl this. You made Kabira fall in love, Nishu. You are my first and only love and I love you more than myself. I am sorry for all the hurt I have caused you and our family. I am sorry that it took me so long to realize what I feel for you. I have been foolish-".
Nisha couldn't believe her ears. Kabir loved her too! The intensity with which he looked at her proved that this was no joke or prank. She covered his mouth. "Foolishness is the true sign of love, Kabir. It means that the heart has finally overidden the brain". She took a deep breath and released what she had hidden for so long,"I love you too, Kabir. A lot. Lots more than lot. All the words in the world would not begin to express how special you are for me". Nisha stopped as what she had to ask was a lot more important than this. "Promise me, Kabir." "What? That I will never leave you? I don't-". "No", said Nisha, firmly," I know you won't. Promise me that you will never commit such madness - staying hungry, injuring yourself - ever again". Kabir held out his hand in front of her. "Only if you promise the same. That you won't do all that I did if I was in your place". Nisha looked away.
"Nishu?". "Hmmm?". Kabir hesitated before speaking out. It was almost kiddish the way he was feeling in light of their confessions. Still, a few thoughts were pricking him and he wouldn't be able to get rid of them until he expressed them. Nisha tried to free herself to look at Kabir better. She knew he was serious when she felt his grip on her slacken.
"What is it, hubby?", said Nisha, softly. "I said yes to marry you against my own wishes because I couldn't see you in trouble". Nisha smiled at that memory. She should have guessed then itself that Kabir loved her. "You agreed to marry me only because you were angry with Viraj". Nisha's breath stopped. "I married you for you. You married me to save your family's reputation". Kabir couldn't understand why he was saying all this. He didn't doubt that Nishu loved him. Dark thoughts had completely taken over him and he couldn't control them. "You say you love me. Yet you didn't stop me from going to London".
London. Even though, she had never seen the place, Nisha had come to hate it. It always stood like a wall between her and Kabir. Nisha realized that it was Kabir's insecurity speaking. She was precious to him and he feared losing her. She had been mentally prepared to let him go at the end of their contract marriage but Kabir had always known of her love deep within. That's why her absence rankled him so. Honesty was the only way to make him understand.
This time she intentionally moved into his arms, wrapping her hands tightly around him, wanting him to feel her love. "Yes. All that you have said is the truth. Still, there is a bigger truth, Kabir. The contract rules were easier to follow than the vows of our marriage. I didn't mean the vows when I took them but I have never broken a single one. Never. I have always fulfilled them, at the cost of breaking the contract rules or ties with my family. Only for you. As for London, it is your dream, Kabir. How can I ask you to sacrifice that for me? To not go? True love doesn't demand, hubby, it only gives".
Kabir thought over what Nisha said. He could hardly fault her for any of what he had said. The contract marriage was his idea and his London rant was never ending. How was she to know that she was what he wanted when he , himself, didn't know it? He hugged Nisha back, his mind at peace. He felt her relax and then still. He knew what this stillness meant.
"Kabir?". "The Pilani sports incident matters to me, wifey". Nisha pulled away in shock, her face a few inches away from Kabir. Her eyes started stinging. "If I ever meet the jerks who had the guts to torture you like that, I swear that they will regret the day they were born", said Kabir, with a rage he couldn't suppress. He hated the look of gratitude and relief which came on Nisha's face. "Nisha, you deserve happiness as much as any other girl. You are not unworthy or inferior in any way. Put the blame where it belongs - on those demons". Nisha shuddered and Kabir caught her shoulders. "It's your past, Nishu. Don't let it affect your future. Follow your passion - shooting or archery. Don't leave your destiny in their hands. I am always there with you". Nisha nodded. She had to start living her life without the ghosts of that incident haunting her every time. With Kabir by her side, everything seemed possible. "I will, Kabir. And I want you to go to LSD as well. Don't argue. Only for a short time. Learn all that you can over there and come back to me forever." Nisha was stubborn, so Kabir relented. He wanted to be with her and not seven seas away. Kabir resolved to work extra hard there and hurry back to Nisha.
"Time to search for a permanent house here". Nisha looked at Kabir in surprise. "I can't leave Maa, Papa and my remaining family here. Besides, my Mom doesn't like to stay in Dubai either. She has run away from something in India and I am hoping my lost brother will help me sort out matters." "Don't worry, Kabir. Viraj will find your brother. Kabir.. your Mom doesn't know about our marriage. Will she hate me?". Nisha's voice broke at the last question. "Not you. Never. You will love my Mom, Nishu, and she - you. My Mom is the sweetest person in the whole world", said Kabir, earnestly," She will be very angry with me though. Her son married without even informing her. Without her presence and her blessings. I have betrayed her, Nishu. I hope she forgives me." Kabir grew tensed and sad. Nisha spoke up quickly," It wasn't your fault, Kabir. We had to save Chandu. I will explain to your Mom. Once we meet your brother, call your Mom to India. We will tell her and Maa, Dadu, everyone about everything right from the trip till contract marriage. All out in the open". Kabir vehemently shook his head. "No, Nisha. Not the contract thing. It was of no significance. We didn't follow it anyway. It will cause a lot of grief to Maa. No. Some secrets should remain between a husband and his wifey". Though Nisha wanted to tell her family the truth and not hide anything, anymore; she felt that Kabir may be right.
Nisha sighed. "What's the matter, wifey?". "Many problems ahead, Kabir. Convincing your Mom". "Exposing Summit", continued Kabir. "Finding your brother". "Umesh Bhaiyya' s cooking and Sukku's acting". Nisha looked at Kabir suspiciously. "What about that?"."We have to convince Dadu to let my cousins fulfil their dreams." "Wait a minute. Your cousins? Listen, Kabir. My family , your family. Your family, my family. But my cousins are still my cousins". "Agreed. Cousins are yours. But you are mine. So..". Nisha felt that her heart would burst with joy. "Dolly and Saurav's marriage", said Kabir, thinking that this would be the most difficult of all. "We will deal with it all, Kabir, hand in hand. But after you come back from LSD. While you are there, it's back to Lakshya Academy for me".
Lakshya Academy was the place Kabir trusted the most for Nishu as Viraj was there. He appreciated the painstaking efforts Viraj had taken because of which Nishu had been able to accept her past and talk to him about it. He realised why Nishu believed she loved Viraj. She had mistaken her gratitude and relief for love. He, also, realized why Viraj couldn't help her beyond a point. Because she didn't love him. Nisha had given that power to me, thought Kabir, and though nobody could make her forget that trauma, he would make sure she moved on. "Lakshya Academy is the best place for training, Nishu. I'll get your admission done there tomorrow itself".
No wonder I love him, thought Nisha, even after all the rudeness and hostility Viraj had shown him, Kabir respected him. And trusted her. "I will became the world's best shooter. Not for you", teased Nisha,"for Mumma". Kabir grinned, imagining his Mom's face as Nishu called her that. His Mom and Nishu would make such a great team that they would forget completely about him. Already, Nisha has started sidelining him. "I have to be the world's greatest dancer too. Not for you. For Maa and Papa", retorted Kabir. Both looked at each other and started laughing. Kabir loved these moments that they shared.
He had an idea but was afraid of Nisha's reaction to it. It would be really difficult but Kabir knew that he could be patient for Nisha and together they were capable of handling anything. He decided to voice his thoughts. Where people's taunts couldn't break her, his sympathy would. He would never allow her to break. "Nishu", said Kabir, his eyes scrutinizing her face," we deserve a little break before tackling these obstacles". "Your sickness has affected your brain, Kabir. Dadaji expects us in the shop tomorrow". "Dadu won't object to this". "My innocent hubby, just because Dadaji has started behaving a little less strict than before and accepted Papa's singing ambition doesn't mean we could do whatever we want. Okay, I accept that your Bura Damaad act was responsible for this. Partly", said Nisha, reluctantly, not wanting Kabir to get any more such ideas. "Wholly", interjected Kabir, smugly. Nisha made a face before continuing,"That still doesn't mean that he will agree to whatever you say. Or that you could make him do whatever you want by your tricks. We don't call him Singham for nothing". "He won't object for this", said Kabir, confidently,"for the litlle break is our honeymoon".
Kabir knew that he had done the right thing when he saw Nisha blush. She shyly turned away from him but he wasn't allowing that. He caught her chin and forced her to look into his eyes. "Anywhere you want, Nishu. Anywhere in the world". Nisha stared at him mesmerized. She pinched him and when he yelped, she knew she wasn't dreaming. Rather, her dreams had become her reality. "Anywhere?". "Nishu!", said Kabir, rubbing his arm,"anywhere". "Then, anywhere but London!". Kabir rolled his eyes. When would she realise that nothing could snatch him away from her - not a person, not a place? "Nishu, tu kitni-". Nisha raised her eyebrows warningly. "Acchi hai, na?". Nisha laughed as she moved closer to Kabir. "Aur tu mere A se kitna J hai,na?".
