Ha ha! Great minds think alike 😎
I don't remember from which point I actually started watching YHM. I loved the promos but by then I was very much into American shows and Ekta had destroyed my favorite serial when I was a teenager. So I was never planning on to watch another Indian show on a regular basis.
The first thing that caught my attention was that they showed Ruhi to be the one to change Ishita's life forever. At first, I was like - wow! groundbreaking!!! You'll meet someone who'll change your life. But when they showed a kid, I was impressed.
Thanks to Once Upon A Time & my own experience, I have always loved the concept where a foster mother loves her kid to the moon. Same reason I was drawn to Bhootu. But that's another topic.
The thing I loved most was the relevance of IshRa. We don't really see our parents to be all lovey dovey. But in their day to day life, they have become accustomed to each other and that's how they express their love.
IshRa for me was like that. Specially KP and DT really complimented each other. Not to mention Ruhanika's acting and how cute she is.
But Raman started becoming too loud, too blind in Adi's love and Shagun was portrayed to be pure evil. Although the scene where Raman explained to Adi that he can't sacrifice his marital life just because Adi is his son - that was pure gold.
I wish Piya had said something like that to RiAd. Because don't get me wrong, in name of parental love they show absolutely rubbish in ITV.
I had continued to watch YHM for so long as I became DT's fan. Specially during the custody battle and because the way she carried herself after her break-up with Sharad. I genuinely started admiring her as a person.
But then the story went on and on and destroyed the very essence with the leap. I could never forgive Raman for the way he misbehaved with Ishita and the words he had chosen.
Post leap I watched for IshRu but I genuinely liked Aliya and Ishita more. But they had to mess those relations also.
Shagun is the ultimate scapegoat. Anita portrayed it brilliantly but Ekta messed it up. There have been many complaints about Ekta's nepotism and can't really take it lightly. But I honestly feel she should have shown a proper ending for Shagun's character and cast Anita somewhere else.
And of course, blind FD has been there who had to find problem in Shagun irrespective of the situation. At times I actually found IshRa to be the culprit but you can't say that out loud without being termed as a HATER.
I didn't enjoy Adi and Aliya very much. Adi was a world class hypocrite. But he did become a good husband at the beginning and I tried to watch it for Krishna Mukherjee. The girl can be brilliant providing a good script is given to her. You can watch their wedding episode and laer her outburst when she felt Bhallas insulted Mani.
But then they introduced Aliya's college friend, Adi became too hard to tolerate with his insecurity and after that even I couldn't watch.
I used to read WU but the negativity would give me palpitation. I have actually forgotten when was the last time I had seen an episode or read WU.
I am glad it's finally ending.
As for characters, I like positive characters but I love layered or flawed characters. I enjoyed the actual novel very much. But from the point they made Ishita too good and too patient while Ruhi bacame a Dadi-amma, I started losing interest.
About KHKT, I didn't have high hopes from it as it was Sickand's show. Plus I had some misconception regarding Deepika, thanks to her stunt in SSK. The fashion show episode completely ruined my interest because it was the signature mark of Ekta. A hero with golden heart who can conveniently insult anyone because of his family.
I have heard Gul is famous for abusive MLs. But I had once watched an episode of IPKKND in Hotstar and genuinely felt Raman was 1000000 times worse than him. Sickand destroyed Raman's character so I never had high hopes from Rohit. Now it's probably becoming a typical daily soap. So I am not interested even a bit.
