Sweety needs to calm down and think. How long will she keep protecting and restricting Rocky? Rocky will turn 18, she herself says he will become independent. Hence Sweety now needs to learn to leave him independent.

Did I say anything about responsibility? I am talking about being independent here. Rocky is going to turn independent as per rules. Sweety cannot keep him protected all the time. He may want to explore too. He may want to take risks. Sweety can only watch him and pray for him. Rest is in his hands. Yes. If Rocky wishes Sweety to be with him all the time, then it is fine.

i agree he wants to take risk but he still not 18 & i am sure if he is in such kind of big problems he never comes out from it himself then atlast he needs his parents again

He will turn 18 soon. Then what will happen. One day Rocky has to learn to get out of his problems himself also. His parents will not be with him all the time. Hence this is a stage where both Sweety as well as Rocky has to learn to be independent of each other.

Indians have created an image of parents being a more authoritative figure. Western has more friendly and cozy relation. Again, it does not matter western or eastern, a good relation between them is desirable. Indians don't generally have that, that's what I have noticed.

There is a difference between talks and actions. We actually discussed it some time back, in the thread with long posts. 😆 Pinky boasted of being liberal but her actions were far from it. Lucky's actually show him to be quite friendly, but still he isn't totally liberal.

I think you need to start a thread on Indian and western style of parenting.

Though I do believe in friendly style, there need to be some restriction too. I don't think Western parenting is totally liberal too. First let me get this clear. What does liberal mean to you?

Among the four, as we already discussed in long post thread...I find Lucky's to be the most balanced style.

i think that day never come so early & i think when the day come sweety will do it herself each & every mothers done this

Yes, not all of them are liberal too. Liberal according to me is treating kids as thinking human beings, not just order them around or have them just follow what you say. Rather than that, think and make them think, talk and respect them as well. A friendly environment, where I can share things freely, without hesitation or fear as to how they will react. A guide.

Agreed about Lucky.
