There is nothing more to do on Twitter, you just Tweet and read other's Tweets. 😆

I too have IF always opened in a tab. 😆 And that mail notification is necessary, I use it too, otherwise have to refresh the forum home page constantly looking for new replies. 😆

Your followers can read and people searching on twitter anything that is relevant to your tweet, can read your tweet! Yes everything you tweet on twitter is always accessible to everyone. There is no privacy.

As Pritam said, your followers can read your tweets, or someone can visit your profile and read it. Someone can search for it too, and if you use a hashtag, then it is listed if someone searches for the hashtag.

But Pritam, there are privacy options. You can set your account so that your tweets become accessible only to people who follow you, and you can also approve who follows you. The tweets won't be public then.
