Reality, Fiction and TRPs
Often television shows depicting reality are the worst hit by TRPs, whereas those displaying complete fiction become favourites of the masses and earn high TRPs.
IT'S ALL about TRPs (Television Rating Points), a method that calculates the popularity of a channel or any programme. New, daily soaps, are being aired in large numbers. Everyday, we see trailers of new soaps and the old ones get axed - as simple as that. The only mantra for maintaining the time slot is attracting TRPs. "TRPs nahin to kuch bhi nahin", and the only way to gain rating is by keeping viewers hooked.
