That's right. Iqbal is bluffing, because that is the only thing that he can do right now. When he told Malik that his love for Meher is nothing but a drama, he was simply lying. I do not believe that the care and concern he has shown for Meher is fake. And I do not believe that those moments he spent with her were all lies on his part. I don't think so. Right now Iqbal is trying to win Malik's trust. He wants him to believe that Iqbal is still the right man for the job.
We as viewers have seen a lot of changes in Iqbal. We are seeing a softer, more considerate side to Iqbal and these changes have taken place because he is in love. However, he is also a man on a mission. Does Iqbal love Meher? Yes. But does that mean he has changed his mind regarding his work? No. His heart might have changed but not his mind.
Let's think about it - Iqbal had many chances to eliminate Meher after Baba was in hospital. But he did not go through with it. Instead he protected her. And wouldn't it have been much easier to get rid of her, rather than say yes and go ahead with the marriage? Iqbal is simply making excuses...
It will be interesting to see what happens from here onwards. The writers have set up an exciting scenario for both Iqbal and Meher. My heart doesn't believe that Iqbal is merely using Meher, nor does it believe that he will go through any wrong doing. Ultimately he will do the right thing. But for now he will continue to mask his true feelings.
Side note: I loved the scene in the jungle. Meher asking Iqbal to draw her closer to him was simply beautiful. She is deeply in love with him...so much that she is willing to put the marriage on hold, if he is not ready. But she has one request: he should not play with her love. And this is why, friends, Meher deserves a happy ending. She has a pure heart :)
