Well there is a logic here for punjabi thing and why gurmeet deliberately didnt correct it.

Punjabi's are TV buffs. Even men watch daily soaps there.
Bihari people on the other hand dont watch hindi shows compared to them.

While gujrati people are no.1 in television viewing punjabi people are second. Hence the reason why many soaps have gujrati and punjabi family background and they are even successful.
On the other hand Bihar people and east-india people dont watch hindi soaps much. And if they don't watch. NB6 how will they vote?

Claiming as Punjabi can give gurmeet innumerable votes compared to scanty votes from bihar.
