I have no ill wil towards media: Manav Gohil

Mumbai, October 31, 2006

Manav Gohil may be bracing with some adverse media fire of late, following the recent 'buying SIM cards to influence the votes' controversy sourcing from the reality dance show Nach Baliye 2.

But he harbours no ill will towards the media, stating that those writing against him "really don't mean what they are saying." "They are just doing their jobs," he says.

So, any lessons learnt from the adverse fall-out? "I have learnt to be more cautious with the media," he admits, adding, "Personally speaking, it's just a temporary phase and I am already out of it. Life goes on."

The current downer apart, there's more to one of television's popular lover boys, who when not dancing to critical applause with wife Shweta Kawaatra on Nach Baliye 2, plays the knight in shining armour to the 'out-of love bahu,' Vaidehi on primetime television.

Gohil has been in the TV industry for over five years, courting wows in a diverse array of performances in serials like Kahani Teri Meri, Sara Aakash, Kasuatii Zindagii Kay and Vaidehi.

If not an actor...

I would have joined the defence services or been a cricketer. But those are dreams.

Coming back to the real world, I would have been a management consultant.

One thing necessary for my existence: My space.

The one thing that stresses you out completely: These days it's been the colour yellow in media.

Favourite show: Rendezvous with Simi Garewal. I like the way Simi conducts her interviews. It is a very classy show and I like the way the star guests conduct and present themselves on the show. But if there's a cricket match happening then it commands top priority .

Favourite co-stars: Shama Deshpande who played the role of my mother in Kahani Teri Meri and Pallavi Kulkarni in Vaidehi.

If you had to wear your attitude what would your t-shirt read?

What's impossible?

A show you wish you were part of... Astitva – Ek Prem Kahani.

Morning or evening person: Both, though I prefer to be more of a morning person.

First take As the anchor in the Channel V travel-cum-adventure show Patli Gali in 1999. A saying you believe in In times of problems, the wise rejoice, while the fools retreat.
