For Kiran Giri, the former choreographer for Sharad and Keerti Kelkar in Nach Baliye 2, the wounds have still not healed. In this interview, he reveals exactly what transpired, and why he's not with them anymore.

Sharad and Keerti sacked you after Round 2?
Sharad and Keerti didn't sack me. I opted out. We had a heated argument. I told them that I couldn't work with them anymore. Sharad was still positive and wanted to sort it out. I also went up to him after that, and he said that he would tell me on the phone the next day. But he didn't call. Later, I got a call from SOL saying that I was out.
What was the dispute about?
It began with Keerti getting upset with me. She said that I had back-answered Saroj Khan. If I hadn't, they would have scored more points. But I didn't answer back. I si mply told her that I hadn't copied the movements from the Ishq Kameena song. I have danced with Shah Rukh Khan in that song, so I should know. I was just stating the truth, which happened to contrast what Sarojji felt. I don't think that the problem is with me. The problem is with Sharad and Keerti.
Please elaborate...
They seldom attended rehearsals. If the rehearsal was planned for four hours, they would show up for two. Even then there was no dedication; they were very laidback. I used to ask them to do exercises but they would refuse. They said they'd get tired if they worked out. Once, Keerti complied about exercising and then simply sat down on the floor and said she couldn't dance!
When did the problems begin?
They felt that they were good dancers and hence didn't need practice. They would say things like they're not like other participants who do not understand beats. They would be puffing away during rehearsals instead of concentrating on the steps.
Their would even encourage their friends to come on the sets and they would comment on what was right or wrong. Then they'd ask me to change the choreography accordingly! They didn't understand that I was not representing their dance, but they were representing my choreography.
Sharad told us that you have an attitude problem…
Excuse me? They used to tell me that unka toh serial chal raha hai, but this is for my career. Now tell me, who has attitude?
Did you expect that after scoring 21 points in the first round, Sharad and Keerti would find themselves in the bottom two this time?
If they had put in 100 percent in the rehearsals, they would have scored more than 21. The fact that they found themselves in the bottom two simply shows that they are not as famous as many others in the competition. This is one reason why they ought to have been working extra (pauses).
Go on...
For Round 2, they not only played truant from rehearsals but also made me change some steps and introduce things that I hadn't envisaged. Sunday night, they didn't come. Monday night, they didn't come. Tuesday evening, they came three hours late and left in 15 minutes. Reason? They wanted to see Nach Baliye! On Tuesday, they came directly for the technical rehearsals but did not use the full stage.
One got a feeling that Sharad forgot his steps in Round 2?
No. He hadn't forgotten the steps. Ditto for Keerti. The problem was that since they had changed some steps, their mind was diverted and their confidence was low. Therefore, their facial expressions had also dropped. The song (Ishq Kameena) was fast, but their body rhythm was not in sync with that. The moment they finished, I knew that they would score low.
Why didn't you tell Saroj all this?
Hum Sarojji ko pranam karte hain. Itna sab nahin bol sakte.
What are Sharad and Keerti's chances to enter Round 4?
I don't think they will. I will not be surprised if they are the next to go out. If they had rehearsed, it might be a different story. They have the potential to win, but the fruit comes only from hard work.
So who do you think will be the next Sachin-Supriya?
It should boil down to a four-horse race: Hussain-Tina, Raja-Shweta, Tanaaz-Bakhtyaar and Hiten-Gauri.
