No play acting, this!

Rasik Dave
Even before the show goes on air, it looks like Nach Baliye 2 is already making Rasik Dave dance to its tunes.

The producer-director of over 25 plays, Dave is currently busy performing 'Bhalai No Zamano Nathi Bhailao' (It's Not The Time Of Goodwill) in Ahmed-abad. Since he's committed to his Nach Baliye 2 rehearsals too, Dave's been shuttling between Mumbai and Ahmed-abad almost every day.

Nervous energy

Talking about his crazy schedule, Rasik says, "I take the late night train (1.30 am) from Ahmedabad back to Mumbai after my play is over. I rehearse for Nach Baliye between 2 to 6.30 pm and then fly back to Ahmedabad in the evening. I've literally been living in the train. It's chaotic, but there's no escaping this routine."

Rasik recalls how scared he was when he realised he and Ketaki were selected for the show. "I have been a theatre person all my life and done so many shows. But never have I been so nervous about performing. In fact, when I met the other couples on the first day of the shoot, I realised I was completely out of place. With time, I opened up and figured there was no way out. I had to give it my best shot."

Strange requests

News of him dancing on the show has made his theatre audience come up with some funny requests. "The other day, someone made an announcement that I was one of the contestants on Nach Baliye 2.

After they heard that, the audience kept asking me to do a jig for them. I told them I was bound by contract and couldn't perform until the show starts. They refused to listen and said they wouldn't begin the show until I showed them some steps. I finally had to bow down to their demands and do a little dance number!"

Lauding wife Ketaki's efforts to meet his chaotic schedule, he says, "She too performs a play every night at Ghatkopar. After that, she reports for her shoot and then joins me for rehearsals. We're hardcore theatre artistes and once we decide to do something, it's definite that we will give it our best."

Helping them in their rehearsals is Rasik's mother-in-law, Sarita (also seen in Ba, Bahoo aur Baby). "We show her our steps and ask her for inputs and advice. Recently, I fell sick and there was no way I could rehearse. Our choreographers were worried how I'd cope up. I asked them to give me a three-day break. On the fourth day, I was back to the rehearsals. In fact, my son and driver too keep motivating from time to time."
