Ever since the dance show, Nach Baliye 2 has been launched, there have been a never-ending series of back-stage dramas associated with the show. First, it was Rasik Dave who injured his knee and now jodi number 6, Arjun Punjj and Gurdip Kohli have sacked their choreographer duo, Jignesh and Nigaar Shah.
Arjun says, "Jignesh and Nigaar are nice people but they were not up to the mark professionally. Nach Baliye is an established competition and we need to have a good choreographer. I don't want to be mean, but it's all about dancing. Gurdip and I didn't want to take a chance with them. So we spoke to the channel and they helped us to change our choreographers."
"Our decision wasn't a personal one. They believed more in acting and expression than on the actual dance steps. However, our new choreographers, Rajeev and Pinky are amazing. Their steps are rocking. But in this whole business of changing choreographers, we have lost 15 days of rehearsals and are running behind schedule," adds Arjun.
When contacted, Jignesh Shah sounded bitter. He said, "While rehearsing, they seemed pretty happy with us. We asked Gurdip and Arjun repeatedly, if they were okay with the steps and they said they were. But, I don't know what happened to them later. After practising for about a week, they said they were not happy with us and apparently spoke to SOL (the producers). SOL tried to work it out for both parties. But Arjun and Gurdip were adamant. So we were thrown out."
Jignesh added, "If they were not happy with our work, they should have first spoken to us before going to the channel or the producers. I have done several shows with big celebrities in Bollywood and have redone steps as and when they wished us to. We would have done that here too."
However Jignesh specified that it was Arjun who had a problem and not Gurdip. He said, "Arjun was not good at picking up steps and getting the right expression. In fact, Arjun is not a good dancer. If Gurdip scores 'A', then Arjun stands at 'C+'."
