Why are you not visible on television anymore?

I want to make it big in Bollywood. Everybody here wants to act in films whether they accept it or not. I want to grow as an actor and television is not giving me the right roles, although it does take care of my bills. But I do not want to act for the sake of paying my bills. Luckily, I am financially secure and am in the position to refuse roles that I am not convinced with.

Besides, after the pilots of Dulhan and Durgesh Nandini, I did not hear from the producers. So I guess they got shelved.

I have always believed that PR does not help one get roles. I do make the rounds of producers and directors to seek work, but that's it. I don't like to party because I sleep and rise early. It's only hard work, patience and perseverance that will take one places.

Considering you started your career with television, why this sudden aversion to it?

Television has become a form of dignified labour. I don't deny that whatever I am today is because of television. But the sad part is that there are very few sensible directors left in this line.

How are you grooming yourself for Bollywood?

I have been working out regularly. Besides that, I am also taking acting classes.

What kind of roles are you looking forward to in Bollywood?

I have always struggled to get good work and will not compromise on that, come what may. I worked as a watchman at a Benetton store and lived on the footpath for two years. I moved about in my underwear for a whole day as the only pair of pants I owned got torn. What could get worse than that?
