How can people have memory loss and forget everything!!This man has gone out of his way to protect her and save her even when they were mere strangers, he went through hell and experienced the fear of his life during Juhi track itself to protect her. It's saddening to see even the fans who once used to cite all the reasons they loved Neil Khanna for forget all this, now they are pointing fingers at that same quality which defines Neil Khanna!

From the word go itself, he showed his care and concern for her and even possessiveness though they were strangers. I still remember how he tried to prevent her from taking lift from that stranger in the first day they met itself. When she did her manmani as usual, he went behind her and was relieved to see she is safe, he was impressed that she could defend herself (pehlvan ki poti as that stranger called her), she used the same technique of self defense Neil himself taught her and Neil punched that guy and asked him to go now ask for a lift from an ambulance!

He stood by her side always and fought her case as if it was his, trying to reason with her all the time because he knew she has the habit of taking risks, remember how he handcuffed her the first time when Bebe and Shweta came and found her in the room and Bebe opened her handcuffs. He came later and he took a promise from her that she wouldn't step out of the house no matter what happens and to trust him but she broke the promise, then we could understand the shock she went through on seeing Ashish Mehta's accidental death video but she always does this to him no matter how many times he warns her and does everything to prevent her she still does her manmani and finds a way, the problem she always lands herself in trouble when she doesn't listen to him. If he never asked her for help when he was fighting her own case then he showed categorical refusal when the case was his.

I still remember how once again she broke his trust when he took her with him, and she hid in the car that was going inside Rang Mahal. He was frustrated, angry and scared and was going to go inside Rang Mahal alone then and there without any force to save her. When she made finally her appearance he ran to her and yelled at her 'Kaha thi tum", if you remember, he even left a mark on her arm because his grip was so strong clearly denoting the intensity of his reaction, now if he reacted more than this people would have called him manhandler!!

3- His expression when she said that she heard some goons' voices and went behind them! he was like "unbelievable"

And I still remember how he was emotionally shaken after knowing that she was going to go inside that Rang Mahal after discovering it was a brothel, he tried to explain giving her the real example of Juhi herself who was stuck there for 5years and could never get out of that place. He showed his fear, tried the logical approach explaining the risks and the kind of people these criminals are!

4-Agar tume kuch hoja tha toh

5- Tume andaza bhi hai...

When they went to their bedroom he ordered her to stay away from this case, he took her promise which she instantly broke calling the guy from her gang. Neil followed her once again and expressed the fact that he doesn't want to lose her, and what people called Juhi jaap in that episode was him also giving her an example of a person he couldn't save before and who faced that fate, because then Avni was telling him nothing will happen to me and you are there with me, so he used a real life example to show her how things happen. Remember also how he scolded DD telling him that life has no rewind buttton it can be lost in seconds and how he handcuffed Avni at Ali's cafe and despite her harsh words, he didn't budge!

Anyways back to Juhi track since it's the main problem of all fans. I repeat it he always showed categorical refusal to her help and especially to her taking risks in this track.

He knew that his lady don won't keep her promise, he knows she can do anything for him. So he decided to use some men of his police force to guard her

But despite everything Avni still decided to go (in disguise), any other husband would have been pissed off and wouldn't have taken it easily and even Neil couldn't accept that, so he locked her up. And then she came with her going to Lanka plan, again he refused and he threatned to sign the divorce papers!

This much this guy tried, yet you read he has no husband instincts !

The anger, frustration and fear he went through when she went gayab and then when he learnt she was kidnapped!

His anger was such that he was even ready to sign those divorce papers because she never listens to him and puts herself in danger, he felt that she was not even taking his feelings and fears into consideration!

24- One can clearly see his anger! but still people will see no husband instincts and will question the intensity of his care for his wife!

When in the Rang Mahal he was facing the corrupt DGP, He assertively stated that his wife was there and he will take her back with him! but he got suspended, and the police officer who is all about rules, law and order forgot all this and stopped waiting and started using even non kanooni ways to save his wife

Though his role was down played to show drama and mainly how Avni will defeat DVM and Amol will become Aman, his wife was always the centre of his worries, he followed her and prevented her once again from committing a murder, he succeeded in persuading her brother.

Even in the OLVs when she said she will go behind RP's son or something on these lines, I remember Neil saying : No Avni, Please, tum nahi, something like that and in the social workers mission he was there with her, now the plane mission I can't say since I haven't watched episodes yet and the only point I tried to explain is that patience can prove to be a good virtue but I guess I'll rest my case here now, many people might think I'm biased to Neil Khanna, truth is I love AvNeil equally, and I trust them and their love, yes silly right they are just fictional characters (thank GOD) but the way they were sketched and the way their relationship was shaped is admirable.

I know I missed a lot, lots of things about Neil Khanna since the post is about him, obviously I myself can't remember every single thing he did for his lady but at least I can see clearly, one OLV won't make me forget everything he did. It's an insult to any man to say he doesn't have husband instincts, it's like what Avni used to call her dad boozdil and beghairat and to say that to a man/husband like Neil Khanna is not only an insult but also unfair!!

I know many now talk about all what she did for him, no one denies what she did for him even he knows she is an exceptional woman but he never compelled her to help, actually he has always been against her taking risks when case was hers and even more now when the case is his, but everyone is ready to forget all this and what he did for her that's something I guess which people don't think about now.

Human psychology is very complicated, and never underestimate the power of guilt, the AvNeil shipper in us should not blur the logical side in us.

And yes I'm a woman and I feel everything a normal woman feels and would be shocked and hurt at all the things a normal woman would be shocked or hurt because of. If something is wrong then it's wrong I won't try to justify it but first I would try to understand if things are really what they seem to be and secondly it won't make me have memory loss about the past.

I hope I didn't hurt anyone here with my words, I would never want to hurt real people for reel people but you know this made me reflect ki what if these characters were real life people!!! then I would definitely feel for them and I would find it highly insensitive and inhuman when a rape victim who has been tortured and held captive in a brothel for five years, blackmailed through her daughter who uperse is the result of that rape experience, is taunted this way, I mean that's very traumatic, anyone can go insane in such a case especially if they don't get the professional, psychiatric help!! is it all because she is the ex of the hero and her acting isn't liked!! or when you read comments shipping Avni with a rapist and looking for names to the jodi just to spite the husband, if you read comments you will feel like if Neil holds no flame in front of the new found villain or when you read about helping people being mahanta... Glad indeed that they are just fictional characters!

I know my last paragraph might not be liked, but I'm not taking a dig at anyone, this is never my intention, there is a difference between the person and the comment, it's just that these comments are food for thought, to reflect ki how when we are overwhelmed by our feelings we don't know that even when we don't intend to, we end up hurting people, believe me it happens in real life too, I know people might not be serious about their comments here as this is just a show and these are just fictional characters, but if you can judge them by real life rules then wouldn't it be fair to understand them by real life rules as well!

PEACE and LOVE

Naj, Thank you. That was a beautiful post. I've lessened my reading presence on the forum for the last few days. I was getting tired of seeing all the negativity about the show, the CVs and the fact that Neil's character has been assassinated.

I will admit that I do not like Poonam's acting skills. As I've said before, I think there is so much scope for her character; there's so much people can learn from her character as a rape victim; there's so much potential about spreading positivity about the integration of rape victims back into society, but her acting doesn't resonate with me as much as it should.

I've seen posts about associating Avni wth Vidyut- it's really disturbing. I would love to see Neil's angst as much as the next girl, but this is scary to think. Think about it people, would you want to see your best friend/sister/aunt/niece associated with a rapist? No. We would not wish that on anyone!

As for Avni being Mahaan, we have seen FL being Mahaan before. And it's common in Indian television. But think of the context of this show, is Avni being mahaan? Or is she just standing by and accepting the man who has done the same for her?
Is she supporting the man who, in her own words, filled the bullet hole that was in her chest?

Coming to Neil's character, he's had sex before marriage. So? A lot of people have sex before marriage. Is that child his? Based on what I've been seeing so far and the feeling I'm getting, my guess is NO.
Let's assume that he has a child? Does that diminish his love for Avni? No. We all saw how much pain he was in today when he thought Avni would walk away from him. He couldn't even turn around to see her walk away. He almost had a heart attack when she almost fell off the ledge.

I've seen posts comparing him to Ashish Mehta as well. Ashish was a coward. He had a child and a wife he loved, but he never stood with them or for them. Neil stood by Avni in every circumstance. He went against his mother for her, unlike Ashish. Let's assume that this child is his, he can still be a father ( and if this is indeed his child, I know he will) to her, and still be with the woman that he loves. Single parents exists. Parents who no longer live together exists. Parents who get divorced exists.

Juhi raising her child in conjunction with AvNeil is a possibility. Life is not black and white.

Even if the romantic in us would have prefered him to have his first child with Avni but him having a child doesn't change who he is as a person now, he is a good human being with rare qualities and a certain system of values and principles. His past sins won't change what he is now: a sensitive, intelligent, firm and sorted out guy.

What matters to me is AvNeil's equation and so far it has only become more beautiful to me. The maturity, the trust, the acceptance, the honesty, the understanding and the unconditional love are the main elements of that equation. It's still the classy relationship it was for me. Their heart is in the right place. I feel that while actions and words are important, Intentions are even more important and these two have the most noble intentions no one of them would want to hurt the other ever and if it happens unintentionally then they suffer as much as the other suffers.

Another point here is we never got to watch who was Neil before he became a cop . We just got to watch small flashback scenes of him with Juhi . So we can't judge what kind of person he was . And he might have had sex with her . He was just a boy then . He might have been irresponsible .The Neil khanna we know is a cop and a matured man who is clear in his mind about what he wants and what not ! They loved each and there might have been an intensity which we have no idea of . We only saw the scene where she proposed (but there was not even 0 intensity ) .The thing which makes me to nauseate here is why he has to run away . But if we think he must not have ever in his nightmare expected that it will end in this and Juhi might not have got pregnant at the time when she proposed ( which is impossible given the age of child ) . There must be some strong connection with Vidyut and Juhi else GM would not have a personal interest or will never say to her son that you only can control her (scene before sindoor khela) . Also she never sold Juhi all these years .Given the business she does it indeed seems to be strange .

No one can doubt his love for Avni . Avni occupied his entire system from the very first meet and there was a undying passion in him to pursue her . He was almost in every place where she was . I can say it anytime that there was no intensity in his love for Juhi (at least from the flashback i couldn't find ) . It seemed to be a mere infatuation which happens to anyone . Also the story he narrated of Juhi to Avni was strange to me .

There is definitely something more into the story because even after revealing the truth to the family they are hatching a secret plan .
