Hey guys!

So I just recently caught up with all the episodes of NK post Avneil wedding. I am not a regular visitor of this forum but I had to make this one post to show my appreciation for a well written character (Male lead specifically) in an Indian Serial.

I am so pleasently surprised by Neil's character. Kudos to the writer. Our serials unfortunately suffer from a hangover of male leads who are mainly of two types: business tycoons with an egoistic/mean streak or good guy losers who are everyone's doormat.

What I like about the character Neil is that he is neither of the two. He is different. More real so to speak. He is Kind and sorted but equally firm. With Avni, his mom and others. Where other MLs go from being abusers to joru ke ghulams (losing their nature and personalities along the way), Neil is consistent. He is a good guy, loves his wife and family, but in no way he is a pushover. He is decisive and knows how to lead. Both at home and at work. I love how he handles his mom's hatred towards avni without being disrespectful and how he never gives in to avni's demands when he thinks she is being unreasonable. The key to this great characterization is consistency. The writers have kept his character and growth consistent. He is the same man he was before being in love and after. His basic personality traits are intact. Which makes him more real and relatable.

Anyway once again kudos to the writer for creating a strong ML who actually drives the story along with the FL and oh who actually works rather than roaming around the house all day LOL.

Completely agree with you...
He is a refreshing change ... I think for the first time we got a strong , practical male lead , who thinks before he does something (and who works!lol)😳

I love all the traits of Neil Khanna but my personal favorite is when he takes stand for his wife in front of his mother without being disrespectful.
How many guys will do that? Most of them simply tell their wife to stay quiet as his mother is elder in the family, so she should just be nice with her irrespective of how she is treated by her MIL blah blah.
But Neil not only tells his mother to mind her ways but also encourages Avni to protest where she is unjustly treated. This context remind me of two scenes, one in which he directly told his mother that he is leaving home with Avni in order to protect Avni from his mother's constant plottings as what kind of husband he will be if he can't protect his wife. And the other one during Ganesh aarti, when Sweta was giving evil looks to Avni, he comes between her view symbolizing he will not let her mother's evil intentions mar his wife's happiness.
Neil Khanna is an awesome character, a guy everybody wishes to have in his/her life

I actually think he takes the same approach towards everyone and everything he finds unjust or unreasonable. What I mean is that he is beyond just being a good husband. If he just took stands for Avni, I wouldn't have called his character strong or sorted. He is overall a no nonsence guy who will be firm with anyone he thinks is not thinking rationally. Be it his mom, Avni or anyone else.
