I felt bad for all the three characters today. Avni was gutted to realize that Neil may not want her back after Juhi's entry, Neil being in the shock that someone who he had mourned so deeply for, for long was standing right in front of his eyes and Juhi for everything she has gone through.
Everyone was talking about Avni, so instead of rehashing her fate, I'll focus on Juhi. I think that the fact that she, inspite of having the option of trading her freedom for Avni's, someone she doesn't even know, chose not to do so shows why Neil was so much in love with her in the first place.
Any other person, a normal human, would probably not have thought of twice before agreeing to the deal. Human trafficking, dancing at a brothel, being tortured, physically violated for eight long years - it's too much for someone's soul to survive all that. And if one sees any ray of sunlight in that dark gloomy world, wouldn't one grab it?
But by making Juhi someone who doesn't want Avni to end up in the same fate as she had, the writers have shown that Neil's faith wasn't misplaced in loving someone like her. Both these women he fell for are selfless, compassionate people who have been wronged by people near them. Making Juhi evil would have been much easier, but would someone as perceptive as Neil have fallen for someone like Juhi in the first place then? I don't think so.
I hope instead of focusing solely on a love triangle with Juhi turning into the typical Komolika, the writers show the horror in Juhi's mind and her rehabilitation into the normal world. Avni, Neil and Ali as friends for her who help her get past the terrible dark years she's gone through.
