@Aditi07:
I agree that NK's story is not overall dramatic, as in it tries to depict things in a bit more realistic way. Like Neil who's first love died but he didn't become Devdas. He still has a successful career and he has his own life away from his effluent parents! He's a truly modern guy in that sense. He has his own identity. Not some clone of a business man. Not that there is anything wrong with being one. But I like that he's a cop and has his own identity apart from his family. He was also practical and was ready to get married to make his parents happy. He understood he can't live alone all his life mourning. He was ready to accept not being in love with his wife, but practical enough to accept a life partner whom he thought his family wanted for him. Sad but realistic.
Then there is Avni who had a tough childhood and then had to live away from everyone she knew with her Step Mother. But she got love of a Mom from her and they built their own life together. She came back to get her brother and some payback. But that was her propose in life. She was not sitting crying about her fate. She took action.Avni is not shy but reserved and cautious of her feelings. I love that she does not beleive in love but is practical and results oriented. She had no interest in making Neil fall for her and leave Rhea. THAT was the easiest and most cliched path she could have taken. It was clear Neil was partial to her. Everyone could see it but her. I think she never thought she would ever let a guy close. So even when Neil was showing such a personal interest in her, she didn't bat an eye. Yes he called it case and what not, but the truth was the guy was Into her! LOL. But did Avni really care? No! I really liked that about her. Even Neil knows Avni never tried to come on to him or seduce him to make him break his ties with Rhea. She is simply not that sort of girl.
Maybe that is the reason she is feeling so lost and insecure now coz she has developed feelings for Neil and somewhere she is becoming aware of this. After what she saw in her childhood she doesn't want to risk putting her heart on the line for someone, just to get rejected. I think it's very hard for her to put her guard down, even with a guy as nice as Neil. Anyone can see he is a really good guy. Avni knows this too. But she thinks it's because he is a Good guy that he is doing all this. Not coz he thinks she is special. That's why in her hallucination when Neil said he would have done this for ANY girl, it upset her. Here she was thinking she was special. But she's not. That incident where she fought with Neil was the most irrational I have seen her act to date. Even Neil was flummoxed. He didn't know what brought this on.
Even Ali. In his place his feelings and his behaviour is all justified. Despite everything I can't hate him coz I know he is not a bad guy. He has to watch the girl he loved for so many years and waited for, with someone else right in front of his eyes. Not just anyone, but a guy he used to be friends with. A guy who KNOWS how he always felt about Avni. That same guy is now her husband and from all angles it seems it's not a title he wants to relinquish. So he's acting out now. But when push comes to shove, he will still be there for his friend. Take her side.
THIS is what I love about this show. No one is totally black. Accept maybe Daya and Shweta, and possibly that dumb bimbo Rhea. Those are the three people I can't stand. I find both Deeksha and Kethan entertaining.
