I completely agree. Hoping when Ali's feelings are revealed, Avni is both respectful and understanding.
Ali is a character who wears his emotions on his sleeve. He has hoped and prayed for Avni's return for the past 15 years, and so naturally seeing Avni moving forward with Neil has triggered something in him. Poor guy!
